There's no clear rule forbidding the employment of butlers in the event. I suggest racing with the bare minimum of kit whilst entering your servants on a short class to allow them sufficient time to get to camp to erect the appropriate accommodation, begin dinner preparations, etc.
don't forget the camping chairs, 4-person tent and full airbed!
looks like my partner's pulling out, trawling through phonebook for replacements but most seem to be on/recovering from BGs!
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhh hhhhhhhhh
Realised earlier today I'd missed the Boat!
First time for many years I've (we) been free this particular weekend,
due to Bishops Castle Tandem Tri moving a week forward.....
So, please if anybody does/might have an entry up for grabs, for a Team of Two....
PLEASE DROP ME A LINE.... [email protected]
Also to found elsewhere Out There...... http://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~temples/hc/ & http://www.rucksackclub.org/index.php
PS Best Gal' (SLMM 2012 Partner - so she thought), not best pleased - so please help if you can ..:o
Now that's an exciting location, one that I don't know that well...! It does lead one to think that there'll be some massive climbs right out of the starting grid :D
This is my first MM, I am excited, but done little MM training as I only found out I was in last week:w00t:. I am beg, borrowing, stealing any MM kit I can off mates who have do a MM before. Hell I hope I don’t let my team mate down.
Looking forward to the event.

On the hoof is the best way to get in to it. I was talked in to my first MM (OMM 2009) on 10 days notice with a guy who was more experienced and much fitter than I was. Turns out we were quite well matched on an MM, finished 5th on day 1 and 4th overall.
Bowfell. Still got a few numbers to trawl through but dare say I'll be able to find a likely spooning candidate on here if needs be!Quote:
What class have you entered? Let me know if you run out of options and wouldn't mind entering with someone you don't know :-)
Wheres the overnight stop then, do we think?
Before the location was announced I'd heard a rumour that Wasdale would be the event centre. That same rumour suggested courses would go in to Ennerdale and Buttermere, so maybe Buttermere? Gatesgarth at the southern end possibly. It'd work for getting the shortest courses back... they could go over Haystacks way and stay high before dropping back in to Wasdale and, I guess, the longer courses back up over to Ennerdale and out the other side. The final details suggest the competition area will be relatively small on day 2, so that would fit. Although, of course, it's most likely something completely different!
Cheers - I'll have a pore over the map later. Has anyone tried to order drinks, yet? The list is on the website but I've followed the instructions and I can't see how I order??? Am I missing something obvious?
The Klets has been changed to a mass start on both days... seems a bit strange. 51 people all going off together. It's a bit disappointing to lose an element of the mountain marathon challenge by turning in to pretty much a race (albeit with a load of nav).
If only you could have averted your eyes...
The rumour may well transpire to be incorrect anyway, but thinking about it I guess it's pretty likely to go that way as last year we covered Langdale and the Glaramara ridge, 2009 covered Duddon and Hard Knott, so there's not a lot left.
Klets will be different- but we get all the control descriptions and have to decide which to do on which day! so more to plan in that sense. I am relieved in some ways as I had a late start and wanted an early one as I think I'll need all the time I can get and even then might struggle to complete my adventure.
Not so sure about the mid camp being Buttermere- wouldn't that be very similar to the one where we started there and had the overnight near Jos Naylors house in Wasdale? Think I faour it being a fair way up Ennerdale? Who knows!
Given the comments about midges I was guessing Ennerdale - certainly hope we get to go over there, it's my favourite part of the Lakes :)
Due to injury and illness there is a place for a team of 2 available at this years Saunders Mountain Marathon on 6/7/8th July. The base this year is Wasdale Head, a classic start & finish! Its too late to cancel now but we could transfer our entry. Cost £84 for a great weekends running! Please reply to thread with email address with your details if interested. Thanks
nigel- i have ordered my milk Ok Felt a bit wierd using credit card for 50p or a quid but nevermind.
Yes, thanks Karen, I figured it in the end but weird it never confirmed what I'd ordered until after I'd paid. Still wasn't sure I'd ordered until I got the receipt e-mail.
We seem to have bought an unfeasibly large amount of beer, cider, milk, Capri Sun and pokey pola.
Hydration shouldn't be an issue, but peeing in the middle of the night might be...

MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH - We have an entry now - see you there, if not before!!
Got back from hol's to late to order beer sat night, so if you see a tall welsh man looking forlorn offer him a beer.
Ditto - well, I forgot on Sunday Night. Never mind, managed without last time (when Scotts were offering Sandwiches and Mars Bars - I was not impressed!)
Got myself a partner sorted out (hopefully he's ratified, he should be) just changing details on SIentries now. Looking forward to some top-quality Lakes Clag after Great Lakes!
If anyone's short of beer you can buy some of mine, a snip at only £7.50 per can.
Just hope we can get there now - Wasdale was closed last weekend due to flooding :)
I have been on holiday but managed to order drinks on the hotel's office computer did get a few crazy guy looks from the staff mind!!
Anybody know what the ground conditions are like with all the rain we have had?
Is that what's happening - are we getting all the control descriptions on day 1 on the Klets and can visit them on either day?
I know that that was how it was years ago, but it hasn't been like that recently.
I couldn't find anything on the website to say about getting all the control descriptions on day 1 - but I was a late entry, so you may have got an email or information to say so ?
Thanks, Bill
PS Toreador - any discount for a 4-pack?
The Klets info was on an email they sent a couple of weeks ago:
There is a change in the way the Klets will be run this year.
There will be a Mass Start for all Klets at 08:00 when they will be issued with the control descriptions that cover both days.
Must arrive at Mid Camp by 18:00 hours.
Mass start on Day 2 at 07:00 hours.
Must arrive back at Event Centre by 14:00 hours.
The total running time over both days determines the order of finishing. The winner will be the person with the shortest running time. Veterans handicap will be calculated as normal on total running time.
Note that the Klets start times previously show on SiEntries should be ignored. These have all now be changed to 8:00am.
I've missed the cut off for drinks too, completely my fault :obut it seems a bit strange.....I only want 2 pints of milk!!!
Will be on the scrounge now :p
