Re: cyclocross bike search
Boardman CX (bike to work?) and the Genesis Vapour are the obvious options at that price point.
Carbon frame might be a tough call at that price point unless you go second hand.

Planet x are doing a fair few cross bikes in that range if you look in their clearance area: http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/c/q/clearance_corner

Re: cyclocross bike search
Thanks lads couple of shops to check tomorrow I have been offered Boardman CX for 800 a kona Jake 750 and this cannondale looks the biz for that price is it worth the stretch I ask myself any more much appreciated thanks ROY
Re: cyclocross bike search
noticed there is 2 years 0% on the cannondale,
for that price its a no brainer
Re: cyclocross bike search
Look at www.merlincycles.com Their cx bikes are in the Road Bike section. They are importers for the Dutch built Sensa brand. Look at the Fermo 'cross bike. £875 with a 105 gruppo. Still inside your budget with Ultegra.
You've got to ask just how rough you are going to be with a 'cross bike? Carbon is very strong in terms of load bearing but it does not take kindly to direct impacts. Great if you are a sponsored rider getting your frames supplied, but as a privateer? For the same reason I would be very careful about buying a secondhand carbon frame; it could look immaculate externally but a direct impact on the carbon could have the lay-up delaminating internally. The only sure way is to have it x-rayed. I'm now retired but spent 31 years at a "top secret, high tech jet plant", where design, production and testing of carbon fibre components was a core activity.

Quite a few people with big smiles, riding Croix de Fer at this year's 3PCX.
Re: cyclocross bike search
Don't doubt it wheeze, I have the similar Day One and it's huge fun.
Not exactly the same as a CAADX though, but I shouldn't have commented really without reading the review.
Re: cyclocross bike search
So have you bought anything Vespa....???
Completed a lovely 30+ miler on the SuperX today linking up 7 forests with short road sections, the bike really loves being chucked about on tight techy single track..... really pleased with it... :)
Re: cyclocross bike search
Hi all I have just acquired a caadx for 650 what are these like I'm not sure whether I've stapped bought if so I will get better later on in year and use this as training bike but for this price it has only got sora on tho this may need changing and I got my SPD for nothing
Re: cyclocross bike search
Sora will be fine on a Cross used as a training bike. Poor things take a right kicking it's not worth have flash kit most of the time.
