Tony Creswell is/was a member of Keswick AC. Try a PM to Chris K of this parish.

There was a Frank Sykes, a founder member of Saddleworth Runners, who sadly met an untimely demise several years ago. Google "Saddleworth Runners" for more info and maybe obtain contact details for his next of kin?

Jeff Connor was at one time resident in W Cumbria. Officials of Cumbrian Fell Runners might have contact details, if you google the club site.

Asked TH via a webform on running bear website but no reply. Cheshire Hill Racers don't seem to have a website just a small forum site. Maybe I need to register for that and ask there.

Two still outstanding - Frank Sykes (next of kin needed) and Jeff Connor (writing in Fellrunner in 1982). Enquiries via clubs (Sadwth Runners and CFR respectively) produced no response, so just another callout for any contacts or info on either of them please?

Steve - I dont know how local you are but if it helps Des Oliver is often to be seen in the Library at Keswick or having a brew in the pensioners drop in centre next door (which incidentally has the least expensive coffee in Keswick)

Ah yes, the 1980s: I remember them well!

I can't provide anything as useful as an email contact, but I know that Hugh Symonds taught at Sedbergh School for many years; I don't think he is there now, but they may provide a lead. Or maybe go via his son Joe, who has been active on the fells more recently.

I can tell you a couple of stories about J. Maitland!😃
