Any details out yet for Hawkswick apart from the few details already published. Not much on the Whatefedale Harriers website as yet ( route maps, race start times etc )
Request has been made a few days ago.. 6km/486 for the seniors in the depths of the new Wharfie site, it is definitely not 8km/500 as shown on fellrunner (winning times were about 30 mins for U16, U18 and seniors last year). It's a pity last year's map attachments don't work!
Last year's thread showed
U12 - 125m, 1.6k
U14 - 125m, 2.6k
U16 - 250m, 5.7k
U18 - 250m, 5.7k
U18s will run with seniors, U16 will run the same route but as a separate race.
Still no details available or at least I can't find any exept for basic details.. Start times for each race, maps etc, most junior race organisers are making all of the details available well in advance, come on Whafedale what's up ?
I have spoken to David Hird; details should be available soon.
Just bumping this thread.
Any news yet, I can't find anything and with less than a week to go, I could really do with start times for the different age groups please?
Many thanks, I will keep my eyes peeled for more info, but that helps greatly.
Details now available at http://www.wharfedaleharriers.co.uk
Cheers Felljunior.
Not wishing to open another can of worms on here, but...
The Wharfdale site states the under 16's are running with under 18's and seniors, and states it is 8km.
Is this correct as I thought the max distance for the under 16's is 7km?
I realise that LissaJous did state previously that they ran seperately and that it is only 5.7k, but would appreciate some clarification from someone please?
Sorry to be a pain.
Much appreciated,
Martin
- The stated distance is wrong, but no-one seems to want to change this!
- The U18/Senior course is, and was last year, the same as the U16 course (Although I understand this was a late change last year)
- The 2012 winning times in both races were ~30 minutes
- So there is no way it is 8km/500m as stated.
- I just measured ~6km (using a piece of A4 on the map on my computer screen)
Many thanks again.
Didn't think of trying to measure the map on my computer screen - nice improvisation.
No problem with the distance. Check out Hawkswick Fingers on Walk jog run. http://www.walkjogrun.net/ Not quite 6k. It's about 1200 foot climb though with a steep last descent. If you didn't run last year good idea to arrive early and recce. Last year U16's was a separate race over same route. Good fell shoe with decent grip if you want to stay on your feet in the wet. Bethanie Murray's videos on Athleticos website give you the picture
http://www.athleticos.org/coverage/2...r-Races-Part-1 Lovely course. 3 little-'likes' down here in the Peak District.

Thanks to all at Whafedale involved in organising a great event.
Challenging races that were enjoyed by all our Juniors
Not speaking for a club, just me and my family, but wanted to add my thanks to the organisers and volunteers. Great day out.
Even though my kids can't descend as well as most others, they still enjoyed it. (I think more practice is required.)

Yes, many thanks to Dave Hird, Tim Done and all Wharfedale Harriers for putting on a cracking race yesterday. A good, challenging, technical fell race, well organised and enjoyed by the Helm crew and all those I spoke to.
And as ever, astounded by the quality of all the young runners. Well done to all involved in both organising and participating. Great day out.
