How many of you got your entry in for this next weekend? I am chomping at the bit for another race after my week away in Spain so am looking forward to it. Offer is posted for car share if anyone nearby is going up.

Looks like just the two of us Ady.
I sent it off, not heard anything though?
I sent my entry off on 21st Aug, and my name is currently the last on the list - it hasn't been updated for a while.
Go to http://www.cfra.co.uk/ then Our Calendar then Scafell Pike Pre-entries.
It's just been updated with recent entries, but the previous pre-entries including mine have disappeared! Oh well, I'm sure we haven't been forgotten.
Thanks for that. It states that they are the latest 40 but does not list the previous. I am there but as U/A for some reason.
Pre-entries now properly listed on the CFRA website.
Only 70 entries! So why is it that so many people want to race up the highest mountain in Wales and the highest mountain in Scotland/Britain, but so few want to race up the highest mountain in England?????
Thanks for the info, I'm in so I'll see you there. Like you Andy, it surprises me that so few want to do it, unless they know something I don't!
Don't know how big previous fields have been but 70 does seem rather low for the highest hill in England. Better chance of a top 10 though I suppose - maybe see you guys up there Saturday, have a good one.
The twice i have done it there were 40 and 76 finishers.
I won my first ever prize in a fell race at Scafell a few years ago but as my mum was inconsiderate enough to have a hip replacement operation that day i had to shoot off to visit her in hospital straight after the race and missed the prize giving
Weather looking promising for this, would be nice to see somthing other than clag and the back of Lloyd Taggert's head.
I'm hopefully taking in this one tomorrow.
Can anyone tell me what route the race follows? Does it go up the nose of Lingmell?

Route map on here under calender link.
have to agree with the previous sentiments
who ever said there was no glamour in the sport?:o
Well it was quite a long way to drive, but at least we saw where Black Coombe is for next year's championship race.
A small, but select select group of runners were privileged to participate in this race when the record was reduced to 49:50 by Lloyd Taggart who knocked 1min 22secs off the previous record. A terriffic achievement.
I think I managed to get to the top only just before Lloyd finished!
Part results at www.cfra.co.uk
Anyone done this? Quite fancy this one but won't get a chance to recce it. Is it mainly path or is there a route through the crags suitable for the also rans? :D
Cheers, Helen
Have now found route map for this, quiet day in the office
Very gradual climb through fields at the start, then a very steep climb up Scafell for about 1/2 a mile. Once over this section it's less steep with the last bit over very rocky ground. Round the monument and then back the same way. About 4miles.
You go straight up the nose of lingmell which when viewed from Wasdale Head looks (and is) massive (in a gradient sense).
Thanks for the info. Only just realised this is pre entry & have missed the deadline. Have emailed the organisers as would really like to have a go at this. Think it was the bucket of flapjack that clinched it :)
Entry on the day was available last year - make sure you take full kit.
Have you heard back as to whether or not you can enter on the day? I've missed the pre-entry date aswell but really want to do the race. I've emailed the organised but so far no response - maybe I'm just impatient!
i'll see you there,i'll be the drunken idiot from calder valley in the campsite, give me a shout :D
Aye, count me in flying the flag fo' Wharfedale Wharfeego!
Hope to make this one. Anybody's better half fancy babysitting Mine and Lloyd's girls (ooo, sounds weird that, a bit gay). I will be taking my little girl to watch, and Lloyd is taking his. I was going to babysit but I fancy a jog out, so need somebody to look after them while we run, anybody??
Well, that was an option, not for the race, but the Wife is leading a DofE walk for her school up and around Grisedale Pike on Saturday, so I could lump Izzy around that (great KIMM training!!).
She didnt waste anytime getting involved!
