Caol Ila (cask strength) and Dalwhinnie respectively
A gentle Highland Park to open the pallette, washed down by an obliging Oban before upping the ante with Bruichladdich, challenging that with a 16 yr Lagavulin and topping off with a 25 yr Talisker. Take a wild fling with some amazing Connemara before coming back down with a philosophical Jura whilst running great adventures of yore through the minds eye:D
 Oi! Leave it out you! I'll have nowhere to run soon! :D
As it was, when I got back to Barden tower I saw this dog-faced cow-looking winged beast jumping on me car  So I decked the begger and told him to go practice his fiddle elsewhere.
Mind, I had taken some of Wheeze's Talisker to give me courage (nice one Wheeze, tasted great on the top of Simon's Seat. Hope you enjoyed reciprocal Craggmore...!)
As I type, finishing off the last dregs from a bottle of 15y.o Linkwood; not bad at all. Not sure what is next, so many malts to choose from and so many marvelous flavours - something for every occasion :)
[similar position but spookily I have a Caol Ila 55% in front of me Cask Strength and its getting to the end of the bottle--bugger! Any of the Islay malts suite me but my real favourite is The Taliskerquote=molehill;7499]As I type, finishing off the last dregs from a bottle of 15y.o Linkwood; not bad at all. I also have a small bottle of Caol Ila cask downstairs. I shall be strong willed this evening though, I think
Best Malt Tour?
Chez Moley takes some beating!
Sounds good...when's the forumers tasting party? :D And is it on the way to Wheeze's ? Sounds like he's got a fair selection too.
Hey, maybe we should have a bring a malt party. If 20 of us each bring 2 bottles that'd be 40 bottles  Assuming 25% over-lap of bottlings still gives 30 different samples. And wiv that many bottles we'd not have to worry about racing in February
...but back down to earth, gotta go to Sainsbury's tomorrow, down to last bottle here...you know I'm sure the stuff evaporates
Stick, there is a Malt Party. Unfortunately it also involves 2 days of running up and down mountains and an awfull lot of cycling :(
Worth it though.
Well, the first 2 bits (Malt party and 2 days of running up and down big hills) sound well good :) The cycling thing is a bit of challenge for me as I do believe most earnestly that I rate as one of the world's slowest bicycle users (I respect those that do far too much to use the term cyclist when refering to my efforts).:o
But I could maybe train a bit and if you all promise to not have finished the party by the time I get back...I'll give it a go! Sends us the details!
...what am I saying  ...maybe I shouldn't drink anymore tonight...
Stick old chap, check out the What Bike thread on the long distance challenge section. We will be combining exercise with food and drink again this summer with refreshments designed by Mole-U-Like Inc, Middle Bit of Wales Corp. Read and decide. Room for more players yet.
Erm, pretty bladderd on 10 yr Jura right now. Exceedingly mellow. Moley is my love-child. Toffer makes my thighs ache and JJ....well I cannot sleep for the sore distraction said maiden imbues.

well Molley whats your nearest and best ( in your view) distill?
Scotland somewhere. Try not to venture that far North, full of midges and men in skirts .
God knows how them heathens manage to produce something quite so wonderfull as whisky, but fair play to them, they do. So I try not to rock the boat too much, simply pay up, drink up and give thanks :D
My favourite was from Springbank distilery, beggared if I can remember the name now but it was on the lines of a Islay malt. Most unusual for the distilery in question. About 15 years ago I was going to invest in a full cask of it, almost had the money put aside but it never quite came off. Possibly just as well, the mind boggles at the potential carnage if I had posted on here " 100 bottles of cask strength malt whisky ... needs drinking, my place next Saturday!
..Sassenach..
..There is no such drink.

bells whisky is blended from good single malts, so why mix? tamdu is the main part of bells. highland park is at the moment the most northerly distillery but there is a new distillery on the go in shetland (highland park is from kirkwall in orkney, and a v good place to visit!).

next week im gonna try whisky for the first time:o
AJs dad drinks glenmourangie,, any good folks
Good lad Daz! Welcome to the Whisky side
Yep, Glenmorangie's not bad and a nice place to start. A nice mild taste, quite sweet and certainly not as peaty as the Islay malts. I like the madeira wood finish. For a tasting I'd recommend starting with the Glenmorangie, then a dram of Dalwhinnie (a bit more peaty taste), polishing off with a fine Laphroaig (Islay) or Talisker (Skye). And if you get the chance to interceded a Jura after the Dalwhinnie I think you'd then get quite a mix. :)
And let us know how you get on. Sounds like AJ's Dad could further your education nicely!
But please...do leave the Bells alone...
