I am hoping to go
It's a shame fell running is not in the olympics.I always thought the Olympics were for amateur sportsmen, and with Fellrunning being one of the only non professional sports ...
The thought of football and tennis pro's winning medals would make the founders of the modern olympics cringe !
hope to see a young lad from our club there ;) he just missed out on going to the world juniors this month !!!!!
Well, my brother lives in Weymouth, so we're hoping to get down for some of the sailing.
Who in the right mind wouldn't try to get to an event or two or even a chance to compete?
Just seen a nice article about the Brownlees on Face book. Particularly liked this comment someone left...

We live in ilkley and sometimes see the Brownlees out training. A few years ago, Alistair was running on the moor and stopped to have a chat. My son had been at school with Alistair and we were asking about his training. After a few minutes Alistair apologised, saying "I am very sorry but I need to go, I am in a race" and several gnarley fell runners appeared over the brow of the hill. Let's hope Alistair is so far in front he can have a "stop and chat" before hyde park
Olympic tickets still on sale for different sports. As resales are given back, odd tickets come back out on sale. Sometimes some cheap ones in the big events!!
Or try the UKA event in Birmingham on August 26th, just £20.12 a ticket and there are some still available.
Anyone spotted the Teletubbies yet ?:D
Awesome so far!!
Loved Mr Bean - Chariots of Fire:thumbup:
Just read a great post on Facebook.
'I remember back at 9pm when this was all fields....'
Nice to see fell running represented - coming down from the "Tor" - poor descending technique though .....
Anyone else notice the very dodgy wave during Germany's entrance?
Not interested!!!!
Excellent opening ceremony. Very intelligent. Can't wait for next couple of weeks. Footie atmosphere was ace on Thursday, let the games commence and hopefully people will get behind it all.
Loved the opening ceremony. Especially giving our future in sport the honour of lighting the cauldron. I will have no voice left at the end of the 16 days. Love love love the Olympics. Good luck today to Mark Cavendish. Gold all the way :-)
In the cycling, the coverage by the bbc is very poor compared to the TDF.
Watched the opening ceremony until just after China came in and then the electrics blew.
Which of course Boris has since dismissed as "nonsense"... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19029510
Good for Boris.
I really enjoyed what was patently Boyle's input. The bit with the chimneys and forging the Olympic rings was superb. For me it was only let down at the end when Macca took over duties. Christ, the bloke is a an absolute bore. I can just imagine him seeing the whole ceremony as one huge support act to him warbling Hey Jude.:w00t:
Macca was appalling, that wasn't singing, more like gurning for the crowds with a few tuneless croaks coming out of his mouth. Methinks he overates himself.
I missed little bits, but it was a great show.
Only 2 downpoints for me.
I agree with you Danbert that Macca was a dreary finale - could have done with ditching him and putting the Arctic Monkeys on at the end.
Seeing Shami Chakrabati carrying in the Olympic Flag was also a puzzling low point for me.
Cycling....damn, damn, damn .
Agree with all the macca comments, we really didn't need him. Especially after the climax of Pink Floyd's 'Eclipse' and the line "...EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN.." as the stadium took off in a blaze of fireworks. I wasn't sure what to expect, particularly at the start, but it was just bonkers and brilliant. Danny Boyle's gone up even further in my estimation.
