We have snow falling in Manchester :(
I hate snow, it ruins my day!
A little bit in the Howgills at lunch time.
We have had a flurry in Northallerton but it's not laid.
ooo i love it, makes the place look great and quiet and sorta calm:confused:.. unfortunatly people forget how to drive cars and it also goes all slushy and orrible....but its nice when its first laid.
Also means I can't go out on my bike but hey ho.
MG how's the bump coming along?
Snowing in Stocksbridge now keeps coming and then easing off but it is starting to lay. more to come i think.
It started snowing on the Mickledon briefly and it got a bit cold at that time.
Light dusting here and there earlier while driving home from Peak. Nothing dramatic mind :(
Snowing quite hard here now!
Can't see from here as it is dark outside and can't be bothered looking closer.:D
Snow flurries during Kinder Trial.
Light dusting so far here in NW Leeds/Aire valley. Was coming down quite heavy up at Yeadon about 3pm.
well a fine sprinkling over stoke on trent way when I was passing through.:)
nowt here in Nantwich.....but its bloody cold enough.
some down here , badger and myself had a good 5 miles in it
Coming down thick and fast here, Mrs and the kids will be pleased if it carries on all night, wish i still went to school, the teachers are better looking these days:rolleyes:
Some snow flurries during round 3 of the East Midlands XC league this morning.
Returned home to the dizzy heights of the Notts/Lincs borders to find a full on blizzard for all of 10 minutes then sunshine for a while then snow showers and so on throughout the afternoon.
We now have a covering of snow which must be all of ooooh...
6 millimetres deep.
Will be fun going to work tomorrow as they only bother to grit the roads around here when it definitley isn't going to freeze or in April when the weather starts to heat up and they have a mountain of the stuff to get rid of!
:D
Nice (?) layer of snow in Chinley this morning, at least a centimetre of trouble...
Decent amount in Rammy, but not enough to keep me snow bound :(
Plenty here, just measured 9 cms on the Bonnet of the car, not quite as much on the ground but still snowing. Of the 5 schools closed or opening late due to the 'Road Conditions' 4 of them are within a mile of my house and 2 within 150m.
My daughter left for school at 7.30am ( her usual time) to get to her school on the far side of Sheffield. she's had no problems other than having to go in wellies. why do schools close so easily  looking forward to tonights big dump.....of snow:o
I might get my x country skiis out and go for trip up on to Howden edge
We've got snow!
Disco stan was saying yesturday that it shows everywhere in the country but not Preston......not today. :D
My first and last lecturer wont be able to get in because they've told us in the past that they live out in the sticks and if it snows they wont come in.
So that means i'd be going in for one really crap lecture where thr guys chats shite for an hours, and then a dizzy woman rants on about law.
Doubt my mums guna agree that theres no point going in -i need more sleep, still knackered from yesturday ha.
Plenty over here, most had fallen by 3am. So school's closed, kids will be at home and plenty more forecast for tonight. Start of Mickleden is only 3 miles from here - would have been a different story if the race was this morning! :p
Stainland to keighley, roads had a bit of snow on but some places very icey.
Temp was -3 all way.
Sitting in a nice warm office, the snow looks very nice falling outside. Made even warmer watching the estates man outside with a snow shovel clearing the paths from the car park to one of the entrances to the hospital. He is doing a cracking job of it.
Snow here but not heavy, roads and schools open, got up at 5 to travel to brum, but roads here were covered at that time and travel watch said M1 and M6 had dangerous driving conditons in the mids so went back to bed.
Am hosting a conference tommorrow with the main speakers coming from the SW, so did not want to get to brum to find everything called and and me stranded. I shall wait to see what the day brings. First thing is to dog walk in the snow.
Did you have a good run out yesterday Andrew? Would've been a real nightmare run out this am unless you're good at striding over snow. I did hear from an old hand that one year the Mickleden race was changed on account of terrible weather and became a simple run to Cut Gate and back.
Well, don't know how "simple" it would have been that is....
Every school round here including where the Mrs. works is shut, but not the school my kids go to, they are not impressed. More forecast for tonight, probably about 10pm when i finish work, think i'll leave the bike at home and run/walk/slip/fall to work:eek:
Be careful out there folks;)
my wife has just called to say she has arrived at work. It normally takes her 50-60 minutes to go the 15 mile to south Sheffield.
This morning it took her 20 minutes!!!!
She said she only saw 10 cars on her way to work. Why can't every morning be like this?
What will it be like tommorrow when we actually have some deep snow.
A friend from out in the Sticks nr Guilford has just sent me a picture with her daughter playing in snow in the garden at least 10 inches deep !!
My friend is a woman so the inches are genuine inches
Many of my daughters friends are on MSN at the moment and are not at school. Most of their parents have decided the weather is bad , yet all the roads are open and clear because of no traffic, the school is open and many of her friends live nearer to school that us. If the roads were closed and the school was open we would have walked the 2 miles to school with her.
I feel a rant coming on about how in my day, parents saw it as important that their children attended school, yet may of her friends are not going in and their parents appear not to consider ringing the school to explain but think that because there is snow on the ground their child does not have to attend.
No wonder the country is in the state its in!!!!!!
Pretty well organised in out neck of the world Antisocial. Despite the kids school not being listed on the local radio as 'closed' (or the radio station web site), the staff were good enough to call all parents and tell them personally not to bring the kids in.
They've also said that it looks like the school will be closed tomorrow as well. :D
Unfortunately, I work from home so it's "business as usual" for me.... :(
Have to agree with you AS. the school over the road from me is shut, yet all roads are open. It's a small junior school and virtually everyone attending will live within walking distance anyway. The very same school was not shut during the big freeze of the 62/3 Winter.
The issue here is that the school is open, has never been closed or said it will be, but parents have just decided their kids should not go and not sent them. My daughter thinks I am a trater for making her go when her firend are not but as its not shut she has no choice.
