Yes you can enter on the day. Not sure if I will be doing this one yet as I may do a the Village Bakery Half Mara the following day.
If I don't do the Parbold Race I will be on the route taking photos. Was a very big turnout for it last year and a great race to do. Very tempted to give it a go?
Are you doing it again Ady?

Because parking is tight and there be queues for entry. Also gives you chance to relax with a couple of pints in the Farmers Arms before the race of course! See you there Penguin, make mine a Guiness.
-
Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Hey Penguin,
Make mine a guinness too, in fact 13.2 :)

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Any other forumites planning on doing this race?

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Usually venture out for Parbold as its not far from my house but already made plans with the better half for the day, with all the BG training I thought I should at least do someting nice on valentines day. I know no excuse !

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009

You'll have a good race on limited sleep, 2 hours seems to be the best for me.;)

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
I will be there tomorrow. Looks like it will be milder than of late.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Pinno - Don't know if you are aware but the Village Bakery Half Marathon is full, no entries on the day.
I might run tomorrow I'll decide when I get up. 70/30 for at the moment.
-
Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Yep, gonna be there. Watch out for the fat lad at the back.

Yes Chris. I had hoped to run the Village Bakery Sunday but noticed it was full yesterday. Only concern with Parbold is some of the terrain after having a bad ankle early Jan. Need a few more weeks on the roads before the trails and fells I think.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Looks like a shorts and vest day, about time we had some warm weather.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Hi All,
Decided at the last minute to do it and really enjoyed my run out.
I think the start took a lot of people by surprise because I managed to be at the front and second out on to the road.
This position didn't last and I was soon passed by about 20 people and as soon as we turned left up the first hill I slipped back another 30 places.
Managed to get a few places back and caught the first lady, but again as soon as we went up any hill I went backwards.
I know it's a terribly sexist approach to racing but I managed to catch the first lady again and I wasn't going to be beaten by her.
Great race thoroughly enjoyed my first outing of the year and managed to beat target time as well.
Well done the organisers and marshalls.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Well done to all that ran today. I decided to marshal this year and enjoyed it on the whole except for one incident.
I'd been asked to re-direct cars from the pub car park as it was full, and whilst most motorists were courteous and understanding, one idiot in a blue renault megane decided he was going to get in the car park to drop of his runner passengers whether I was in the road or not. I think he shouted "Move out of the f^ckin way" as he drove straight in almost knocking me over.
Thanks for that.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
It looked an ace race today, was gutted not to be running.
I was the guy stood on the wall by the school taking a few pics and then at the fence with the straw bales for you all to hurdle.
Ive got a few pics but my memory is crap so the majority are on pudgys camera.
Met Ady and Penguin, saw peawet and swoop whilst they where running - shouted encouragement.
Spoke to NotOnYourHelly and ive only just realised i also saw Mrs NOYH
Hopefully this should work, they are pretty naff to behonest but they gradually get better as i learn how to photo runners, best pics are on Pudgys camera though - sorry ady i failed to get you jumping over the bails because as you came to the fence my memory ran out and i didnt get pudgys camera out in time.

Good pics from Al Fowler.
Pics 3 and 4 have me near the front well out of my depth. (green vest/black long sleeve)

I was pretty sure who you were Chris. Noticed you carried on doing your striders until the last minute.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Cheers Swoop,
My strides where just to keep the nerves in check, it's odd but I have never been that nervous before a race, first race back after a bad case of flu would account for some of it, but it was bigger than just that.

Evening Everyone.
Well done to all who ran today spotted lots of forumites. I was the one stood in the mud in the Blue coat at the top of the Quarry and then again later in the fields after the bales Jump. Lots of photos to add around 1300 will get some on tonight and tomorrow.
Great race to watch today.

Of course, and a starter at the High Moor . At least now I know your weak point.

Re: Parbold Hill Race 2009
Just waiting for the pics to download. 340 of them!!!
Continuing my quest for VFM. It's going well, an extra 10 mins of fun, fun, fun today on the last time I ran it. I'm gonna take a fiver with me, next time. Ice cream and a pint at the Wiggin Tree, followed by a little snifter at the High Moor, then roll down the hill, into the Farmer's Arms (I hope she's good looking!)
