3 peaks then cycle between
Has anyone been daft enough to climb Snowden then cycle to Scafell climb it,then cycle to Ben Nevis and climb that.
This is what my mate Mick has roped me into some time in July, his organisational skills are not the best. So if any one has any route choices tips please help!!!!!! Oh yes and he wants to do it in 3 days.....

Just thinking back to my Lands end- John O Groats, surely three days is pushing it??
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
This has been done before. I seem to remember being told about it. Will check and feed back...
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
Do it anyway. It'll be a bit of fun and an adventure.;)
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
agree that 3 days would be a fine achievement and think you'd have to be some athlete to accomplish it....
3 days just to cycle the route without the running would be good...it's a long way on the main roads round to Wasdale....unless you go over Wrynose and Hardknott:D
how about cyclo camping it for the true adventure !
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
I'd like a bet on this. 10 quid to Mountain Rescue if you do it in <72 hours.
Keep us posted.
And good luck...................
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
actually it's a damm tough proposition
last february, as a bit of training I cycled over to do the LLandudno 10k road race and back...a hilly 230 miles in 2 days
your escapade makes that look like a tootle to the shops:D
best of luck
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
jus did a AA routeplanner...it's 500 miles just for the cycling and you won't be on motorways:eek:
I'll be in for that bet too !

it has been done . a lad from Sheffrec cycling club did it over 3 days last year. the run/ walk sections took him a long time (cyclist). Another lad from the rucksack club did it a couple of years ago in i think it was about 53 hours including a couple of hours sleep.there was an article in cycling plus mag last year about a guy who was giong to try to do it in 48 hours . he reckoned it would have been a record if he had done it but i think he pulled out.dont know what the record is will have to look into it .Did fancy a crack myself but lost my bottle.
An excellent achievement however long it takes.good luck.

Good luck to you and Mick RPB. count on a ten spot from Mrs C and I for your chosen charity if you succeed (we won't push you on the time)

If that is via Wasdale, it can be considerably shortened by climbing Scafell Pike from Seathwaite in Borrowdale, via Styhead and the Corridor Route. It might add a couple of hours to your running time, but should shave 6 or 7 hours off your cycling time. It has been done before and somewhere, back in the mists of time, I think that Martin Stone ( in his 'Long Distance Diary' column in the Fell Runner Magazine ) has a quoted record for this trip.;)
Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
Autoroute gives 469 miles avoiding motorways but that's without veering off for the Scafell leg.

Re: 3 peaks then cycle between
Cheers for info all, we will be doing Scafell Pike from Seathwaite, the running/walking bits should be ok, now where did I put my cycle clips :). The plan is Snowdon first but depending on wind direction could be Ben first.
