This race is a counter in the WFRA's North Wales series next year but not a race I've heard of.
Does anyone have some info on it?
Cheers.

Glad the rain stopped : )
Pete Mac
Do you know who won ??
I understand it was a non local , not Richard Roberts (?) who was 2nd.Either number 65 or 66 from the first photo of my batch.Guess the results will be up later.I heard 3 minutes knocked off the race record but not sure.
Cheers
Pete
Winner was Adam Peers of Loughborough Uni, Liverpool Harriers and, today, Pensby Runners, who won the Green Green Grass of Home three weeks ago in his first fell race of the year! He outsprinted Richie Roberts and Gilbert down to the finish - he's a steeplechaser so perhaps that's a good discipline for descending fellrunners.
As for me four races in five days so I died towards the end but I'm still alive!!!:)
hope Sunday was a day of rest Welsh Harrier!
You must have seen the photo of a very bedraggled me! I was about 30th then approaching Tal y Fan but made a bit up over the bog to come in 24th. Yes, today I confined myself to shifting sheep, digging up spuds and sundry other domestic things - will have a rest before the Beacons next Saturday!
Hope you found out what Wormstones are!
yeah I found the wormstones and a ditch! but was delighted on the map to see we ran past 'Harry Hut' at the top
can anyone let me know if this Is this the same course as the Legend 9 ? i take it that its only the name thats changed due to the change in the name of the pub.if so,then the course record for this race is 1:14 min by Dylan Jones 2004 and not the 1:19 by Gary Rees Williams as stated in the FRA calendar.
however if this is a new course, then well done to the winner,on an excellent run.
Hmmh, not sure, it's definately not the same route as in the past but not entirely sure when it changed.......
Anyway - here's the link for the race map so you can check it out:
http://www.teamdolly.co.uk/races/dat...2008%20xal.htm
Also it's incorrect that Gary Rees ever had record - twas a Gavin Williams from Dark Peak................and finally regards the route of the present race - pretty uninspirational I thought, long run in, minimal descent and just a re-run of Penmaenmawr / Tal y Fan...............
Cheers for that Math,
looks like the same route to me also 9 miles long(hence the name).it could be that the organiser has changed??
youre right in saying its ahell of a lot like pen/talyfan and also you can add the foel lus race into that.sorry about the name,i just thought that G.Williams was Gary.
how have you been after Snowdon?i hope that you are fully recoverd
No, not your mistake re: record, it states in most places that it was Gary Rees but when you see the actual results it's Gavin not Gary W!!
Also could well be same route as yours, dont think Rich et al were pushing nowhere near as hard as they could so could knock another couple of mins off their times on the wknd if they were really going for it.
Anyway, aye think fully recovered - should'nt have done that Glad 9, bit of a de-motivating race following the high's prior to Snowdon and watching Borrowdale..............off to Norway tomorrow to do the 5 mile and 6000ft uphill only monster -fancy it!?!
Champion!!
Good luck in Norway! There's NooWay i'd be any good at that.
Good luck in Norway, sounds like a cracking race.mabye you could write a post race report when your back.
Gladstone 9 anyone on here done this race?
Shares some of the same terrain as the Penmaenmawr race but it's a fair bit tougher with some good climbs early on. I much prefer it but will be spectating this year.
I'm going to give it ago .
route map posted on race dates page on

I thought this race would be a good "loosener" after Borrowdale last weekend but judging by my legs this morning they don't feel very "loose" :)
*note to myself* Don't pick an AM race next time as a loosener!
It was my first North Wales fell race and its a very good route and deserves a bigger number of entries than that but the start is a bit narrow so maybe it suits a smaller field.
My thanks to the organiser and all the marshalls and The Gladstone pub for a great race and a very enjoyable day out beside the sea :D
A cracking low key race,
Thanks to the the organizer& marshals for putting on the race, I had a lousy run but that didn't spoil it for me :)
Thanks to the organizer for lending me his whistle!!:o(left mine in van in a rush)
Great race
Great journey along the coast road to get there. Spectacular views from the start at the Gladstone Hotel with even more breath taking views on the way back from Talyfan.
Smaller field does suit the start/finish. Didn't realise so many forumites were there?
Also my first in Wales. A tough run in sweltering heat, well organised, I hope all the pre-race probs re: marshall worries haven't put the bloke off keeping it going.
ill fitting shorts sorry if I offended anyone, you have all seen one before!!
monkey nuts ?? : )
Results are up ;
