Running up real mountains !
Anyone else come across this before?
This guy "runs" (well, he certainly isn't hanging around) up mountains and times his ascents.
Before clicking on the You Tube link, which peaks do you think he will scale?
Each climb will take him between 1 hour 56 and 2 hr 47 min...

This man is quite remarkable

Re: Running up real mountains
I'm sure I saw at the start that he climbs a rope, how can you do this without a seconder? I thought it was supposed to be solo, is there a way of using a rope on you own then?

it can be done but it very slow so not sure how he does it.
Basically you end up doing the pitch 3 times
fix rope climb up. fix rope at top, abseil down, untie rope at bottom prussic/ascender back up.

He obviously wasn't on his own, someone had to hold the camera! So maybe someone also belayed while he went up the more dangerous sections?
-
Re: Running up real mountains
Yes you would have thought that the Eiger does have a few dangerous sections...
-
Re: Running up real mountains
Looks like he only roped a couple of pitches on the Eiger he was self belayed by his cow's tail leashes on his ice axes most of the time. Truly frightening that is steep stuff.

Re: Running up real mountains
Ueli Steck Triple Speed Climb records on the Eiger, Grand Jorasses and Matterhorn - incredible!!

Re: Running up real mountains
thanks for that - amazing! I wish i could do that. Can't believe he climbed the Matterhorn in under 2 hours! I plan to climb it myself one day soon, but I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with cold sweats after dreaming about the 6000ft near vertical drop....

Re: Running up real mountains
What he does is amazing. I watched a documentary about the Eiger and after watching all these climbers come to grief or take days to get up there, he pops up after breakfast and is back for lunch.

Re: Running up real mountains
And here I was thinking that I did well running up Snowdon in the snow on Saturday!
-
Re: Running up real mountains
Pah, barely any running in that.
