Hello,
Could anyone lucky enough to live in or have visited the Lakeland fells in the last few days give me a hand with the following...
What's the weather / dampness on the fells like? For example if someone was thinking of attempting a long run next weekend, would everything be impossibly wet underfoot? :rolleyes:

Was out on Blencathra yesterday afternoon - pretty wild and windy with some heavy rain, I stayed off the main ridges and took the tourist path from Scales, to the Tarn and from there to the top - the rockier paths were OK but a lot of splashing about, bit slippy and wet coming down on the grassier slopes. Today has been drier but haven't been on the hill so I cant say if it has improved much. Could be a lot worse in Borrowdale or central lakes though.
The last couple of runs I've been on I've stuck to forest tracks as I knew they'd be dryish and sheltered (and the road to get to them was open), but what do you expect!?! it's november! - the Lakes are always impossibly wet underfoot in november, and for that matter, september, october, december.......etc, etc..

I live in Cumbria and it is fair to say that there is plenty of Mud, laying water, slippery wet rock and grass, the Frezzing levels are forecast to be at summit height (Which Summits the forecaster did not say) with the chance of wintery showers.
So as long as you are competent then all the ingredients are there for a cracking challenging day out.
When plannining your route bear in mind that the Rivers and Becks are still running a little higher than normal.
Getting about is not really a problem a few bridges closed and still some run - off of water from the hills this link may help :-

sun is shining in Kendal at the moment but will surely be shortlived
forecast for weekend is better but i would come equipped for worst just to be safe
A few of us were out on Loughrigg last night.
A bit wet underfoot, but nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year.

There may be the odd bit higher up, but way too warm for the past week or two.
But, it is forecast to get much colder this weekend......
