Beggar, it clashes with Meanwood trail race -even though thats a morning race I don't think I'm ready for 2 races in one day. That said I hope the move to a Saturday yields dividends with increased numbers from its old midweek slot.
Well the change in date will be brill - I have never seen so many midges as that evening I did it when it was in summer! Even in Scotland!!!
But the clash - well, my Oli is going to do both - nutter! Jerry reckons it's cos Oli hasn't got into beer yet!
Today's fell runners expect race results to be posted on a website before they even get home for a shower but in the good old days a previous organiser of the BSR, a self employed builder, collected the standard self addressed envelopes and postage money and threw them into the back of his van.
He then forgot about them.
One year later when sorting out his van for the next BSR from under the sacks of cement and piles of bricks he found envelopes and cash and thought " Oh well! Never mind. After all, who wants the results now!"
A midge free BSR?
Times have certainly changed.
What are the junior age categories?
I don't know if this race is in the calendar, I can't find my book.
It is not in the Calendar. New organisers for 2007. The relay used to be an evening event in June.
The "flyer" does not give details for juniors so I would contact the organisers who are BOFRA-background-relaxed-kind-of-people. If you look at the 2006 results on the FRA website you will appreciate this event puts the fun into relay fellrunning. It is not the Ian Hodgson Relay.
urmm...:o ...actually it's my club http://www.wharfedaleharriers.org.uk/contact.html
organising now...:o ...but I didn't know the answer (still don't)....:o
David Hird will know (01535 653 826) Give him a call now...;)
This year's Will Ramsbotham Badger Stone Relays (on Ilkley Moor) is on Wednesday 22nd May.

It's a great summer sprint relay, with team prizes for juniors, families, open, ladies, and more!
Attachment 6980
Prizes bought. Beer labelled. Trophies tracked down. Marshals enlisted. Photographer (M. Woodentop no less) geared up. FRA checklist checked. Good weather booked (sorry, risky one that).
See you all there Wednesday!
(OK, it's a shameless 'bump').
I'll be there - running for Airienteers this year in my brand new AIRE vest!
Small team from Nidd Valley coming - not sure if anyone has come up with an appropriate "amusing" name yet!
I'll be cheering you all on in a marshalling capacity from the cairn. (& making sure you all go around it !). I was going to say "give me a shout", but you'll all be panting like dogs & unable to speak.
If you bring along a 4th you can make a real evening of it and enter 3 teams, after it's only 2 miles and with a slow, medium, fast and 4th runner can minimise changeover delay times viz:
Leg 1 Leg2 Leg3
A Fast 4th Slow
B Medium Fast 4th
C Slow Medium Fast
“Resting” 4th Slow Medium
So the fastest runner runs all 3 legs and the medium, slow and 4th runner do 2 each.
Mine too wharfee!:)
Though I do believe Graham misread my post - it's a team or '3 teams' - meaning 9 runners if all turn up - actually last I heard there may well be enough of us for 4 teams - some going for us these days and that's even with our new member DinoF being unavailable for this one.
Well 4 runners is enough for 3 teams if you wish to minimise changeover times (see race rules) but if you have 9 runners you could really have some fun.
Race Rules
Teams may contain runners from more than one club. All teams must have 3 different runners (it's a relay!). Runners may compete in more than one team (on different legs).
You would've hated it Simon! Seriously it was a good fun event on a great sunny evening (apart from running into that cold wind!).
Thanks to all the organising team/marshalls etc (Good to see you Jez at the cairn - I obviously wasn't trying hard enough as I managed to speak!).
Also good too see fozzy, hope other forumites enjoyed it too.
Thanks to Paul and Ilkley Harriers for organising. Really enjoyed it, although maybe not that last little climb up to the finish with Mark M-W chasing me down!! Pleased to hang to 3rd place for Airienteers!
Good to see MT out for Fellandale. Think I missed Jez at the Cairn as I was dying at that point!
Results are up now http://www.ilkleyharriers.co.uk/inde...ge=badgerstone
Apologies to David Alcock and Sam Fisher over a mixup over the fastest leg. Sam ran 15:32 and there were 5 runners under 16 mins incl. Scary Mary Wilkinson, good going in that wind.
Lost (Found) Property: black and green Next sweater
I underestimated just how cold it would be on the tops ! It was Baltic ! Good to see you Martin, the high 5 warmed my hand momentarily. Well done to all.
