Could be interesting.... No sign of snow out of my window (looks over Bradfield) but I'm taking some Londoners walking over Edale moor and possibly to Kinder Downfall later so should make for an interesting day!
Trying to snow here in Glossop as well, low hills nearby are starting to look a little white, so up on Bleaklow and Kinder should be a good covering - take care
Snowing in Ripponden, well more like Rodders description, 'Dandruff'
The Lakes mountains have snow down to around 1500', some interesting route choices where paths have been washed away, there are a few paths that have had to be closed, mostly in the NW lakes.
The Shipman Knotts climb on the way up Kentmere Pike was exciting this morning - wet snow on saturated turf. It was one step up then slide back the same distance - really tiring. I got as far as Harter Fell and turned back as Nan Bield looked lethal. We could do with a few hard freezes to get a bit of consolidation. Let's be careful out there!;)
Kinder/Edale Moor was lovely. Saw a few folks who were practicing for Tankys up there too, if a walker in a bright orange jacket asked if you were on the Tankys route, then hello again!
I think pigs will begin to fly across the Atlantic before we get snow in Preston!
Some nice drifts up Black Hill. It made you appreciate the warmth of the bogs.
we set off to do Coniston Old Man summit this morning, but after climbing up to the ridge between Coniston and Swirl How from the Levens side, horizontal sleet n snow forced us to descend back via Goats water without summiting.......was literally crawling on the ridge to stop getting blown off, scary stuff.
Bit of sleety snow ( of the horizontal variety ) up on Fiendsdale Head this afternoon , I think we are gonna get a bit more tonight, it wont stick, never does around here ...
:D
There's some on the tops above Starbotton.
Looks like snow tonight as well! =)
Snowing like mad in Ripponden:cool:
The sun has driven away the rain in S Wales... :) Not a sign of the promised snow for Thursday!
I shall bet anyone of you a pint on XOTF that Preston doesnt get a single bit of snow :(
Went for a run at lunchtime & I could see a sprinkling of fresh snow on the Cheshire Peak tops. There's still a mixture of blue sky & unthreatening clouds here though.
Beautiful sunny day now:confused:
Fairly frequent squalls drifting in of the North Sea on a force 8 gale
Winter is here at last
a little scattering in Kendal earlier today but sunny now
Nothing in the South Midlands but the lovely sunshine has just been replaced with blanket greyness.
edit - ten minutes later. It's snowing
2nd edit - All the cloud has headed off towards south Wales and left us with the sun again.
Coming down nice and heavy in Harrogate.
A long time ago I was driving back from my then in-laws in Harrogate to my then home in Todmorden with the first Mrs Splatcher. The snow came down heavier & heavier, & by the time we got to Hebden Bridge everything ground to a halt as a bus got stuck on the hill going west out of town. We parked up in about 8 inches of snow & walked up the hill to my mum's house in Heptonstall. That was the night Halifax police station was filled with stranded motorists overnight. Tell the younger generation that, & they won't believe you. We lived in a shoebox at th'edge o't' canal. Mind you, Tod's still pretty much like that. Gravel for breakfast -delicious.
I just looked out of my mum and dads bedroom window...and theres snow on the top of Parlick.
Thats one of the Bolwand fells to those who dont know.;)
It's snowing on our side too, just a dusting mind.
The Radio 4 weather forecast this morning was warning of heavy snow on high ground in East Anglia today. Tyke reckons they must mean the top of his compost heap. :D We've no idea whether there's actually any snow in his garden as he's working in Amsterdam - where it's snowing.
Just back from a snowless run :( but now it has started snowing :) ............
