HH,
Good effort at Wansfell; I think John Akkie is no slouching potato....
Why no running at the Winter League?
Good to see you back Noor, would love to hear about your travels some time. I had a bit of a flyer at Wansfell. Just decided to go out hard and see what happened. Plan worked ok. I just wanted to make sure everything worked well at Scout Scar regards the organising so I'd decided not to run. Saving myself for some of the steeper ones. You planning to do any?Quote:

What do you expect when theres no entry fee, no prizes......now theres no results
HH,
I'm afraid the travelling tales are woefully short... and remarkably uninteresting.
Yes, I think Troutbeck and Elterwater are in our club championship so I'll do those two and any others nearby.
Brett,
I am surprised how few results you get up on the website. I would have thought organisers would be keen to get them posted. If I find any that aren'y listed do I just email you the link? I know I've asked before but my memory is like a colander (I believe this to be bigger than a sieve), SH*T that reminds me, I've left my onion soup on the stove....
...soup fine, although somewhat salty.
Getting back to the results - I really don't know why there is another website with a results service (www.fellrunning.org.uk). It does almost exactly what this results service does, why didn't he offer to take over the running of this web-page and advance it?
My dear Brett,
i did not mean to imply that you weren't putting in the effort, as I know you are. It was simply that there seemed to be lots of spaces where results should be fitted in, but organisers obviously hadn't sent them.
**TERRIBLY SORRY FOR ANY OFFENCE I HAVE CAUSED***
As a matter of interest the Wansfell race is missing from the 2007 Calendar since I haven't received any information about it yet.
Talking of races not in the calendar...
Can anyone tell me any details r.e. the Silver Howe-Loughrigg Chase race that seems to take place each March without me being informed. Why is it so hush-hush?
Yours Sincerely,
Disgusted & Left Out
from Manchester.
So, do any of the Ambleside AC forumites know the date of this years Wansfell Race, as it doesn't seem to be in the FRA fixtures. I need to make sure I get the right dates off work over the festive period.
Cheers.
Its been the 27th December for as long as I can remember, tricky if you have to sneak out of work to run it in your lunch break, always the "sorry I won't be back in this afternoon I've broken my ankle having lunch" paranoia.
Can anyone confirm whether Wansfell race will be happening on Dec 27th?
we had a last ditch appeal for someone to organise the race otherwise it won't happen? anyone fancy it?
Spread the word to technophobes please!!

Dan Duxbury
£1 entry fee? Thats gone up a bit since i last did it. Blatant profiteering if you ask me:D
Well done Ambleside. I'm glad you've got an organiser. I think that'll be my next race.
Brilliant news. It's one of my favourites. That's a lot of mince pies if it's as popular as last year.
Thankyou Ambleside.
Thanks Dan - with a bit of luck the info is whizzing round Keswick, now just need to get the time off work (unlikely :( ).
Thanks Dan for running with this one. Hopefully see you there!
27th December is a 'normal' working day for me so l'll have to wait until 2008 when it's on a Saturday.
See you then :)
Bumping the thread to the top - in the interests of public information!!!
Sorry
Well to celebrate that bump it seems I've actually got the time off work, now if I get rid of the throat infection, do some training and eat slightly less, I may not be last! So long as I make it to the start line.
That's good to hear Chris. Just remember to come all the way down into town for the start. Theres usually a couple of runners each year join the race half way up where you register, pleading ignorance!!
As a past co-organiser I'd have no excuse:eek:
damn this race sounds good.... and i was plannin on doing the whinberry naze the day before tooo....guess there's no dressing up on this one then?
ps...how long is it...
You'd be more than welcome to dress up as anything you like!! Its short and steep - about 2.5 miles 1400ft
Well I hope that a few entrants will fit the significantly overeaten/suffering hangover/or totally unfit brigade to keep me company at the back of the field, as I think I'm already in that state!
Hope you all have fun today. I've got a Christmas cold so won't be joining you.
