Reckon sunrise will be about 7.00 ish by March? Anyone got a better educated guess?
If it is 7am and your start time is roughly between 11 and 12 then you would be around Bleaklow area maybe even as far as snake pass if you are in the middle of the pack. These are very rough estimates by the way.
Check out last years results for a guesstimate or schedule for recce's

As to when you find out, well I can't help you there.
I'm waiting to find out myself Goose Fat. It says on the website the team organiser will be notified, by mail, by the 8/12/07.
I've been checking my e mail all day and had nowt yet. Let me know if you hear anything - I'm on a need to know basis and need to know now!
 Its today or tomorrow that we find out? Didn't realise that.
Let us know as soon as anyone hears then!
Much more civil than 3 peaks entry eh!
waiting to hear as well... fingers crossed I think?!
Sunrise for Edale is 6:38am on 8th March according to http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.php
And some might even be waiting in fear
With much more than fingers crossed :D
And..... the weather (and any snow cover there might be) & team pace, will be the determining factors in the "daylight" moment... it's normally an imperceptible, magical moment, which lifts the soul & legs onward to Snake Summit.... leaving Howden Moss…. approaching Hoar Stones…. with the emerging vision of Swains Head, is often the place, on my/our pace, when there is a "wonderful" awakening, of our dead but faithful souls & legs!!!
Hope to see you all there....
Anyone heard whether they are in(or not) yet?
What I found surprising was how long before actual sunrise it starts to become light. I think it's just more noticeable when you've become accustomed to the dark. We were heading up towards Bleaklow Stones when it started to improve, but we did get one of the early start slots.
Myself and Nik did some wild weather training on Kinder today. Crumbs it can get rough up there in Winter. Add some darkness and tricky navigation and it's a fairly serious challenge. Here's hoping.
Check your mail! I've just had good news!
All hail team "Potter Power"
*team name subject to change after team meeting.
We're in too.
We are too! Guess I'll be able to see exactly where we're at when it goes light now!
Ohhhhh Flippin H H H Heck!
We are amongst the Lucky Few againl...
(having been dropped for being far to young, I had my fingers & toes crossed)
Anyone know if there's a complete list of successful entries anywhere?
Afraid I have lost out this time.
Good luck to you all on this one.
The Anthill Mob will be in this year ! Though whether my knee will allow me to get sufficient miles in before hand I dont know !!!
As for daylight, we did it in 2006, the most magical sunrise as we came off Bleaklow onto the Pennine Way.

The mixed Pennine/Glossopdale contingent are back for more too.
AJF: keep your ears open there's usually a team or two looking for someone daft enough to stand in for the injured/suddenly sane etc.:D
d'oh... no joy.
surely you should know round there really well Geoff ! Isnt that your neck of the woods ? If thats the case we'll tag on behind you boys. Last time there were plenty of foot prints in the snow to follow, never had to look at the map once !!
Grouse, will Margarine be running this year as well? He may be needed again to pull me out of that bog at Outer Edge...http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon9.gif
Nah... I'm just gonna stand there and laugh, like I did last time.:D :D :D
I'm in and I didn't put mi name down!http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon6.gif
All those people who are disappointed, there could well be a spot
up for grabs.
I can feel an ache coming on around early March.http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon10.gif
There are always a few drop outs.
Start a list up for replacements!http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/images/icons/icon14.gif
I'm in!
It should be....err....fun! :D
Take no notice of him Marko, he's just miffed because you beat him at Calderdale;) .
Does anyone who knows the route fancy any xmas recces?
It may be good to have a few cars and do some legs. The bleaklow leg is the area I know least, never been from Lost Lad through to Bleaklow Head.
I was going to recce at night. I think its best to understand how things are different at night.
Quick question here.
When you leave lost lad, I think, you go down sheepfold clough, then your next CP is cutgate? or something, apologies but from memory. So I think I'd follow the 'track' runs down sheepfold clough to the main valley, then head direct NW? to the main track again, is that the best route?
Or is that info very confidential?
Well, i'm sorry to say I'll be at the start complete with wobbly legs and wobbly tummy, and this'll be the fourth year in a row. And last year I swore I'd never ever do it again. Whatever has come over me to be so weak willed to be persuaded to try again.
and to the previous poster: you need to be a lot more familar with the route if you're to get round. You've many happy hours ahead of you, with the map sitting in the warmth of your front room. By the time you start, you should know it all off by heart. In a nutshell, you go across Featherbed Moss - where it is very easy to go astray.

I was wondering the same thing as you about the route from Sheepfold Clough to the next CP. I've never done it but I can see the route you mean and had considered that too but it all depends on the ground underfoot I'd say......which I'll know after a recce or two.
I was also wondering which route is taken up to High Neb? Following the road seems to have distinct advantages even if it's a little longer.
Not sure I'd agree with this in the first instance. It's worth practicing in the dark once you've recce'd it but you can suss out the best lines if it's light and then remember them for the night section. IMHO
Yeah true, I should do it in the light first, I know most of the area pretty well as I grew up in Sheffield, the only bit I'm not familiar with is bleaklow, and much of that follows the PW.
Yeah, I thought I'd try to get back on path ASAP, cheers for the info.
Also anyone know what the deal is with injuries before hand, and therefore replacing team members, is it straight forwards, A's running instead of B, or do you have to keep stum and just replace them on the sly? I'd have thought as long as you aren't changing your category they wouldn't mind?
