I saw the lad Starr had passed away ‘reportedly’. Is that correct? It doesn’t seem to have generated much coverage on the Guardian web-site (strange, I know)

For supper tonight I shared 3 trout caught by a friend from a small, secret mountain lake not far from Devils Bridge. Accompanied by new potatoes from the garden. Delicious.
Tonight.
Zucchini frittata. Green peas.
Salad: tomatoes, beetroot, kidney beans, carrots, chillies, peppers.
Home made bread.
Ice cream (decaff taste), home made.
Lunch:
Two slices of home made dark bread, mozzarella, 6 tomatoes, oil.
Breakfast.
Greek yogurt. Pear. Bread with cream cheese and home made pumpkin jam.
Strongest coffee I can make.
First of this year's raspberries from the garden: lovely. Last year I didn't have any, they all shrivelled up in the drought.
Also looking forward to the gooseberries: first time I've had a decent crop since planting the bushes about 5 years ago. I have tried a few over the last week, but they are still a bit too sour to harvest.
Missus wanted trout for dinner tonight - decided mid afternoon - so I was sent up the hill to catch them. Never goes quite to plan when under pressure (the big one got away!!!)
so we had half a wild brown trout each and some fish fingers :)
One fruit I'm not going to be getting from my garden this year is blackcurrants. They have all disappeared from the bushes. And I know whodunit: I saw them there when I got up this morning.
If anyone has a shotgun, they can have a free meal of roast pigeon if they come to my place.
Strawberries done very well this year
Bumper crop of strawberries here too. Garlic and shallots very poor.
I have a fondness for spicy foods.... a legacy from a couple of extended trips to Thailand...
Today I was in the supermarket and spotted an intriguing curry... I do enjoy this particular brand of curries, usually having their “3 chilli” rated hot curries, such as Jalfrezi or Hot Tikka Masala. But this one was either 7 or 8 chilli ratings, and what looked like Hazardous Waste yellow/black tape round the outside of the box.
It was a Phall but also with Naga and Scorpion chillis. The actual flavour was very nice, but about halfway through it just became quite sore on my tongue. I finished it (too nice to leave) and quickly followed up with spoonfuls of cold Greek yoghurt!
It’s certainly the hottest meal I’ve ever consumed....
