6.09 miles, 2,710 feet, 2 hours: Wansfell Pike - twice down the race decent. More showers than sunshine, windy on the top as it often is. Sodden and slippery, but managed to stay upright. Not many about. Presumably it will be quieter from Thursday onwards.
-
7.77 miles, 833 feet, 80 minutes: Skelwith - Drunken Duck loop. Cold breeze, occasional spells of light drizzle, thin snow visible on the Crinkles. More people than usual on this quiet route, and one other runner.
-
Half hour walk with the dog. Good to get out and see some sunshine over lunchtime.
-
13.46 miles, 3,386 feet, 3 hours 37 minutes: Fairfield Horseshoe clockwise. Lovely autumn sunshine, cool breeze, but not really cold, the odd tiny - door mat size - patch of snow. No ice to contend with. Half a dozen other fell runners and quite a few walkers on the route. Waterproof top not used, but long sleeved base layer was most welcome.

Normally I lead evening runs for my club twice a week, but they have had to stop now. The delight of a daylight run today on my own. Very muddy in parts, but lovely Autumn colour. Didn't bump into Mr Breeze on his steed.
-
8.83 miles, 2,664 feet, 2 hours 34 minutes: Loughrigg trails. Overcast, but no wind so not too cold. Trails a bit drier than they were, less slippery. Noticeably quieter on the fells and on the roads.
-
7 miles, 2,152 feet, 1 hour 56 minutes: Blue Hill Woods - Wansfell Pike - top of the Hundreds Road - the Pike again - race route descent. Perfect autumn day - warm sun, no wind or even a breeze, terrain drying out to an extent, the bracken collapsing at last. Very few people/cars about.
-
15.45 miles, 4,272 feet, 4 hours 17 minutes: Roundhill Farm - Red Screes - Scandale - High Bakestones - Dove Crag - Fairfield - Nab Scar. Almost a perfect autumn day - just a cold wind at times. Terrain continues to dry out. Given the forecast and the fact that it is a Saturday, the fells were not too busy. Some were coming up Nab Scar a I was descending - do they realise it will be dark soon?
-
10.8 miles, 3,563 feet, 3 hours 18 minutes: Blue Hill Woods - Wansfell Ridge - Kirkstone Inn - Red Screes - Roundhill Farm. Increasing cloud/mist during the day, but no rain to speak of. No wind, not cold. Slippery terrain again, after overnight rain. Very few about - saw NOBODY between Wansfell Pike and Roundhill Farm; only one car in Fisherbeck carpark.
-
6 miles, 2,500 feet, 1 hour 50 minutes: Waterhead - Skelghyll Woods - Wansfell Pike - down/up/down the race descent (10 mins/22 mins/10 mins). Overcast, no wind, not cold, odd drop of rain, thin mist. Terrain damp so slippery. Not many about. 4 cars in Fisherbeck carpark.
