I am running Ben Nevis for the first time this year and need to choose between my Walsh PB Elite or Inov8 Flyroc trail shoes. Can't afford to buy a further different pair ... please advise!

Whichever have got the best sole by September! :)
You're obviously comfortable in both. Enjoy it. You will. Really you will! ;)
From what I've heard, it's a hell of a rough race and fell shoes are the answer, therefore I would go for Walshes. You may regret that when you hit the mile road stretch towards the end mind. If it's dry you may be best with Flyrocs, but if it's wet, Walshes are your only choice I'm afraid.
Crosslites the only option
Inov8 330's have done me well for last 3 years (different pairs I hasten to add!) Used Walsh PB racer before that, they were fine too.
Forget the road at the end -you'll be well tired by then anyway and everything will hurt so it won't matter what you've got on your feet
But you do need the best sole you can have for the descent...wet or dry conditions!
Thanks to all for your input. This is my summary - Walsh's if wet, Flyroc's if dry and Crosslites if I have some spare cash! Turbo Tom - I am interested in what you think gives the edge to Crosslites.
Is the grass bank still in the race route or are we being forced down the zig zags?
