What fantastic weather for Loughrigg Fell race last night!
This must be one of the best evening races ever.
And great cakes and flapjacks at the finish.
Well done to Ambleside AC and Dan Duxbury!

Bah! I knew I should have done it. It would have been worth the journey up the M6. Ah well , at least I should be fresh for Pendle on Saturday.
Glad you enjoyed it

Anyone know if Loughrigg straight up and down race is on again this year? Bring on the cakes from last year! Its the only way I will get to run such a short race.
Thanks for that Shadbolt. Does anyone know if its a flagged route, or will we need map / compass? Does it need flagging for such a short race?
I'm on holiday in the Lakes with the other half next week and I'm trying to "accidentally" end up in Ambleside on Wednesday – then I can confirm what pansies us southerners are!!!
Hi MR,
Did this race last year and it was a very easy route to follow . Up and back, but make sure you keep an eye out for the fast gazelles who are bombing back down when you have your head down going up!
No real need for compass, map etc unless stipulated by organisers. Grand cakes at the end!!
enjoy!
Where is the best place to park for this race?
LOST PROPERTY from Loughrigg Fell Race: One long sleeve black Paramo top. Give me a PM or email.
What was the website for the TV crew there last night?
Cheers for a great little evening race Ben, appreciated the good weather too.
I chickened out in the end. We walked the Fairfield horseshoe on Wednesday afternoon and decided to get the bus to Ings and sample the beer at the Watermill instead!
I've just been sent the link from LakesTV for the feature they did on this race.

Hi, just wondered if anyone could confirm the route for this as the FRA races section says it's to Lily Tarn and back. Does that mean it doesn't go to the top of Loughrigg, or is Lily Tarn considered the top?
It'll probably be obvious once there, but thought I'd check.
Thanks.
Hi LFF. Lily Tarn and back is the juniors route. Seniors doesn't go to Lily Tarn but to the summit. The route is flagged - basically it follows the main path from Rothay Park but with a couple of flagged short cuts.
See you there! :) Have you run it before?
Up here for the week so would be rude not to do it. Just been up in the glorious sunshine this afternoon - no idea what the correct route is, but as long as there's company at the back, who cares :-)
Thanks to the organisers for a great race last night.
Great race and lovely cakes:)
Indeed, glad you could make it. I missed my time by 59 secs - have to get faster, maybe not eat so much flapjack!!
any news on the blind lady in the road shoes did she make up n back ok hope so
what a VALIANT effort well done!
Rachel McCormack finished in a time of 1 hour, 45 minutes and 50 seconds.
The prizes and trophies had been handed out, results compiled, the marquee had been packed away and the runners had long gone home... but we Amblesiders don't leave anybody behind - nor I guess do any host club! I counted at least seven marshalls, helpers and organisers who stood in the dark and waited at the finish.
The finish tape remained and the stopwatch continued. When Rachel and her entourage of five or six crossed the line we had a couple of bottles of wine, some cakes and energy drinks on hand, not to mention a round of applause which rang out across the darkness of the park.
Wow, I had no idea, fantastic achievement, well done Rachel, and Ambleside, inspirational.
