SACRILEGE
I read with some dismay the reports from the Helvellyn fell top assessors. I hope this is a one-off for the lakes but have seen similar on Snowdon before now.
As mind numbingly stupid as this vandalism is and however upset Mr Bennett, the Fell Top Assessor, found it to be I suspect he will regret putting photographs of it on Facebook, and with it now having been on television it will have planted a seed in other halfwits tiny brains.
It should have been removed quietly without any publicity.
I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment. But at least those 'tags' can be easily removed. Others less so Oh sorry...this is 'art' albeit without local public consultation or planning permission.

I know where you're coming from on this, but don't have a problem with the Stanza Stones. I think they are an OK addition to the environment. Most of my local friends agree. There are many things happening to the local environment that I'm sorry/disappointed by, but this is one of the very few that I thinks enhances it.
I live locally and have visited them all.
