Re: Tonight's football thread
"As a Leeds fan I can't say I won't be glad to see the back of ol' Fergie, but it's hard to argue he isn't the best ever British manager. Fair play to him."
It sticks in the throat but I definately concur Hank. I hadn't realised he'd also won 3 Scottish titles with Aberdeen, thought it was just the 1! He also won First Division with St Mirren. Not many people are successful with virtually every team they manage! Also despite appearances, I have it on good authority that away from football / tv, he's a really nice bloke!! Glad he's gone though. It'll be interesting next season, the next manager is in effect a sacrificial lamb. Good luck Mr Moyes.
Re: Tonight's football thread
I reckon any Reds who say they want Moyes because of 'long term, youth development, working on a tight budget' etc are lying. Deep down i reckon most match going united fans would rather win nothing for ten years as long as they had excitement and entertainment and rock and roll. That's why they really want Cantona, not Moyes, but they'll never admit it.:w00t:

Two players retiring, a star centre forward who has maybe 2 seasons left in him, once centre half in his mid 30's, another who can barely manage half a season, Rooney who's form goes up and down more than the members of his local bingo club etc.
In the next couple of years that side is going to need major surgery and he's got out before it goes horribly wrong.
RVP two seasons left? :w00t:
I'm not worried Danbert, because I look across at cITY and see your over-reliance on one player (Yaya Toure)....
...then I see the players who are unsettled like Tevez, Kolo Toure, Dzeko, Nasri, Barry & Lescott amongst others....
...then I look at the players like Van Persie, Hazard, De Rossi and Agger who you failed to sign last season.
...then I look at the players you did sign like Rodwell, Garcia, Sinclair and Maicon...
...then I look at how old and stressed Mancini is looking...
...then I look very carefully at how you were forced to sell Balotelli to meet the UEFA fair play rules...
...then I look at you potentially being kicked out of the Champions League, losing even more revenue...
...then I have a good laugh. Every cloud has a silver lining.

So Carloz Tevez and Yay Toure.. when were they born exactly...
No major surgery at all.. keep saying this.. is this year 3 or 4?
He stayed for 26 years.. how can you say he was scared of rebuilding??

It's nice to see you back on the forums, TH. Been busy offering helpful advice? ;)
Re: Tonight's football thread
Regardless of the club, I have wanted Moyes to get the chance at a top 4 club for sometime. Most of the big clubs only have eyes for overseas. It's hard to say with Man U as they have had only Fergie for so long and also Arsenal.
But Chelsea have a poor record - despite the trophies won - and they are a club in a bit of a mess - 23 players out on loan.
I was pleased when Liverpool went for Rodgers - and the early signs are promising.
If man U go for Moyes, I will be pleased for Moyes - he will be going to a great club with a good squad.
Young Keeper, Young defence with able experience, and more options in attack that perhaps any other Prem club.
One good top class midfielder will help.

I agree about Moyes. I wonder who will take over at Everton after Moyes leaves - Rafa? that could end his Liverpool love affair :D
Re: Tonight's football thread
I hope they give Fergie a good present to mark his retirement.......A gold watch, perhaps!

How about Stuart McCall currently doing ok with Motherwell. Also I mentioned Jim Reid, having read an article about him, for Leeds but maybe he'd be good for Everton!?
