A man and a woman are getting a divorce. They are arguing in court over who's gonna have the right to keep their daughter.
The judge asks the girl: "Do you want to live with your father?"
She replies: "No, he beats me all the time."
"Do you want to live with your Mom then" the judge asks?
"No." she replied "She beats me all the time aswell." she replies.
"So who do you want to live with then", the judge asks her.
"I want to go and live at <insert ground>"
"<insert ground>?" enquires the judge, to which the girl replies "Yes because <insert team> don't beat anyone there".

I just think without the goals he has scored then United would not be where they are not to mention his assists for other players to score. Only van Persie could have scored some of those goals as well. He also gives confidence to the rest of the team which brings the best out of them. The winning goals he has scored against Southampton, Reading, Man City, West Ham, Liverpool has turned 5 points into 15.
I can picture Danbert creeping round to van Persie's place and polishing his front step :D

I wouldn't underestimate the contribution of Hernandez at key moments either. But haven't City scraped a few late goals to secure points they didn't look like they were going to get? Late goals from Djecko etc
I think it's just a feature of the stronger teams.

Looking forward to the Real Madrid v Man Utd game tonight. Real to win it for me but can they keep a clean sheet?
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
United get the first goal. That answers the clean sheet question

That looked a superb early save by De Gea... looked like he got a flick to put it on post.. very open.
That's why CR7 is world world class.. that was a top class center forwards goal.. he has it all.

Re: Tonight's football thread
1 - 1 Great header by Ronaldo (rose like a Salmon!) and the Welbeck header was pretty good as well.

1-1.. could have been anything.. they had more chances but we had some great chances..
Giggs sliding tackle and run was a proper 20 year roll back..

Re: Tonight's football thread
Good performance by United with Ferdinand marshalling their defence with his usual coolness.
Ozil who looked a real danger in the first half disappeared in the second ? Jones did a good job on Ronaldo in the
second half though. When Modrich came on (what's he doing in a Real side ?) I thought it would end in a draw.
Should be a cracker at Old Trafford for the return leg and I wouldn't like to predict that one

This is what I don't get..
Rio is without doubt... one of the best 4 centre backs around.. I'd day top 1.. but for me, now, reliability wise.. you have to include him..

What about the possible scenario that Real lose at Man U. The "Special one" gets the boot and then gets hired by Man City ? The thought of Mourinho and Ferguson cuddling up to each other all season doesn't appeal to me though :D

A bit of a shock Arsenal losing today. Can the Latics and Leeds jump on the giant killing bandwagon ?

well if history is anything to go by over the last 3 years when I've been skiing and leeds have had a cup match they've won but only to premier teams like Man U and Arsenal :)
So my Euros are on Leeds to win 1.0 :w00t:

From what I heard of the match on the car radio today City played well. Had Leeds met the side that played Southampton it could have been a different story.

Re: Tonight's football thread
Just seen the goals, 3 were very good but have you ever seen such a soft penalty?
Every corner and free kick should be a spot kick if that ref is in charge unless its just helping out a top club?

Watched the match on TV with my brother-in-law. Yes it was an extremely soft penalty but it made no difference. We both said that Warnock would focus on that in the post-macth interview and sure enough he didn't disappoint. According to the commentators the Man City starting 11 was purchased for £205 million while the Leeds team was £1.3 million. So yes, it was a mismatch and we never had any real chance of causing an upset away from home. But did we really have to go down so wimpishly? I'd like to see Warnock go now and Nigel Adkins installed as his replacement.

Tell you what though Stagger ...watching the Leeds fans today, it was like turning back the clock to the 1990s. They were just like we were back then.
They turned up in numbers, made a load of noise even when behind, laughed at themselves and their team in the way I haven't heard any other fans but city's do. 'We lose every week, you're nothing special' , ' you're only here to watch the Leeds', 'ole' when they strung 3 passes together etc.
Fair play to them for their part in the atmosphere, and for backing their team when they are obviously very poor.:)

How often do you watch lower league football?
Brechin City fans to their non-league cup opposition fans.. 'you only come to the big games, you only come to the big games'.. gallows humour is pretty normal..

Perhaps, you are an example of why we shouldn't give up hope. Although trust us to get the only Arab owners who don't actually have any money! To be honest it's not that much different from the 1980's for us and we came back from that. But at the moment, we're just a feeder club for Norwich City!

fa cup today seemed to throw up some dire 'contests'

Enjoyed the banter with you lot today.
You sang, loud proud and made me laugh with your shoes off if you hate Man U
Good to see another team that can take the piss out of itself, reminded me of typical city banter

You got to be simple to follow Leeds.

Re: Tonight's football thread
It was a moderate performance by us today. They managed to string a few passes about a couple of times but never really got a decent shot on goal. The ball was going back to City far too often and far too easily. Passing far to inacurate, we were just passing 'in the general area'!! No idea why we subbed McCormack for Morrison. Warnocks got a couple more games to potentially keep us in the running for pay-offs then he's hoofed. Adkins seems to be on the cards to replace him. Would it be a good idea to get him in now and see what he can do with the squad? Not sure? Will he come?! Not sure either.
Roll on next season.....
