Re: Tonight's football thread
Quote from ex Arsenal Emmanuel Petit
“I asked myself what has become of the team that I knew,” he said. “It’s worse than I thought. It’s a gulf which is confirmed weekend after weekend. In midfield, there isn’t anything now, the defence is constantly under construction.
"It’s fortunate that Van Persie is up front. Certain young players haven’t done enough to justify the confidence that Arsène has in them. Walcott – somehow he’s going to have to reach the next stage. It’s been years that he’s been at the same level.
“Aaron Ramsey, against Milan, I got the impression it was his twin brother on the pitch. In the way they behave, in their body language, we see they’re not there anymore.
“You have to send out a strong signal. You have to say to Arshavin, and to Rosicky: 'Gentlemen, thank you, but goodbye’. And soon.”

Wise words, a class act on the pitch and obvioulsy not stupid in saying the above. Think Arsene needs to get selling, maybe not getting in the Champions league may be a blessing in disguise.
Still proud to be a supporter though.....

You're right Biara you've got to keep the faith! There has been some occasions in recent years, on the bus back from Eastlands or Old Trafford, when my faith's been severely tested though!
I think this s the article WP is referring to: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...miliation.html
It's pretty much bang on as is Henry Winter's opinion piece to go alongside it.
Re: Tonight's football thread
Ok it's official, I'm really depressed, I hope he does get us promoted but i really don't like Warnock.

My sentiments exactly.
Re: Tonight's football thread
He has a track record of promotions but never appears to kick on. Maybe this time.
Just give the bloke a chance.

Agreed. Maybe Grayson shouldn't have been given the push, but surely Warnock was the best manager available. Who else? Clark? McCarthy?
Happy birthday Stagger for the other day!

He's just such a tit. Football-wise, yeah, hard to argue with his record for dragging teams up out of the Championship, which obviously it would be great to see. What then though? Watch him give his old "we're just excited to be here playing big matches" patter as we slowly slide back in to oblivion?
