Very Funny Danbert but I'm surprised we havent had a Rooney song yet....
Goodbye-ee, Goodbye-ee,
Wipe the tear, Rooney dear, from your eye-ee
Tho' it's hard to part, I know,
you'll be tickled to death to go,
Don't cry-ee, just fly-ee,
There's a spanish lining in the sky-ee!
Bon Soir, Adios! Cheerio! Chow-Chow,
Barca calls, Rooney goes, Goodbye-ee

Judging by Adeybeyor's efforts tonight, it might have been useful to get some shooting tips at the African cup of nations.

Re: Tonight's football thread
I am neither a Manchester United or Manchester City fan but the lack of Man City fans' on here seems bad form on their part to me.

It was a good game.
And it was interesting to hear my Rag mates say that it felt like an epic champions league semi, not the Carling Cup.
In the end it came down to a couple of little moments. One where we let the Bellamy incident distract us and you scored, the other where we were waiting for the whistle to blow, and you scored. You've been through countless semi-finals and pressure points, and that experience told. :)
-
Re: Tonight's football thread
Ah, bless! Took it like a man. Top bloke Danbert!:)
Completely unpartisan and really enjoyed the game. What told on the night was the incredible, experienced spine of Ferdinand/Scholes/Giggs. The rest of the team seemed to spin productively around that axis. Thought Nani had a good game too.
Bellamy also looked really dangerous...troublesome little tyke ain't he?

Parents have the season ticket, so they went. I get their cast offs.
I was out running. Personally I'd rather participate in sports than spectate..I watch the odd game but I'd much rather be someone who participates in sport. Made that decision many years ago.
I even switched off Sky Sports because I was never in at the weekend to watch games. No doubt that's a bad attitude and I should be some sports 'fan' who is overweight and never actually competes...
Anyway who do you support? Do you travel to see them much?

It was. I supported City when they went down because I miss the big games. Football is about the big derbies, the rivalries. They're certainly back on again now.
Re the Bellamy incident. It's been totally blown out of proportion. In the first game Giggs was it? was struck with missiles thrown from the crowd, nothing said, similar incident with Bellamy and it makes the news.

Good blog my McNulty in the BBC site:
"United, however, still hold sway in this city. Empires carefully assembled over more than 20 years are not dismantled in months with a few waves of the game's mightiest chequebook. "
Anyway Cook needs to pull his head in a bit, that 'when we beat United' speech was basically Fergie's team talk.
Rooney was the difference. Bellamy, odious wee shite that he is, is playing some of the best football of his career right now. For all the big money signings he's probably the best player and overall was more impressive than Tevez for me.

Brilliant. How do you compete?
I've played for the best part of 20 years now run competitively, personally participation is more important than spectating.
Traveling around the country to races costs, I couldn't do that and watch football week in week out. Simple choice for me. I made the decision at about 15-16 to just watch the odd game, brother used to bus over and watch a lot of games (although we are manc by birth we spent our teenage years in Sheffield), but I chose to play football and rugby instead each weekend.

Can't beat 'non-league football'.
Leamington going well after 'reforming' a few years back ! Do you think they'll ever get back to the Conference ?

Re: Tonight's football thread
I see that the Arsenal game is now United's biggest fixture of the season according to the old soak knight of the realm.
Now don't get me wrong I understand that you move on to the next game and so therefore Portsmouth becomes our biggest game of the season but the truth is we all know what the sour faced miserable old alchy is getting at.
