Play Up Pompey
I've got to go for the northern club.
Black Cats
Can't say I'm bothered either way.
A Grimsby Town supporter at work today told me that he'd bought a new TV to watch the Championship play-off final. But when he opened the box he discovered there were no leads in it.
I will probably have to sack him. Quite funny though.
There’s a bit of needle between Cov and Sunderland, going back to on the pitch shenanigans in the 70’s, which has unfortunately intensified massively this season, due to off the field troubles...
It’s safe to say that a lot of Sunderland fans regard us as the dregs of the football league, and would be happy to see us go out of business... I don’t understand it really, seems to be a rivalry completely built up by them, and sadly jumped on by the less savoury elements of both teams support... I’d just like to see them suffer some more... they seem to think they have a divine right to be in the premier league...
Looks like they’ve got through tonight, I’m sure they’ll certainly be favourites at Wembley but I fancy Charlton to pip them if they get through. Think they’ll be too strong for Doncaster.
Travs, you are right of course, and no one can mention Derby without referring to it as Frank Lampards Derby County. For me though with blue blood coursing through my veins, and feeling so frustrated after a season of Sarriball, these are two major figures from our past and probably of more interest to CFC fans than any body else out there.
As for Portsmouth, I watched it and they seemed to have little idea as to how to break down the Sunderland defence. Both sides looked poor and the difference in standard compared to the previous nights Championship play off was like the gap between myself and Rob Jebb, a huge chasm in class!
Well done City on the first ever MEN'S domestic treble.
Very impressive and playing great stuff.
Best wishes to Vincent Kompany on his move away from city and whatever he does next - sounds a top bloke
Playing manager at Anderlect.
Hope he does well for them
Super Kili are fantastic, Rangers are atrocious.
I know little about Scottish football... but hear the Kilmarnock manager is off to manage Scotland...
My Italian boys Atalanta managed a draw away at Juventus.... a win in the final game of the season will guarantee them champions league football next season... they might not even need the win, but it's likely it'll be needed.... not many teams will want to go there, ferocious place to play football, considering the ground holds no more than 25,000.....
Time for Greta Thunberg to inform the football authorities about the carbon footprint of two London clubs and thousands of supporters travelling to Baku. Surely Wembley stadium is available some time next week?
Great news for Leeds fans.

I'm sure Bielsa will be looking forward to welcoming Frank Lampard back to Elland Road next season ;)
Same old England
When is Gareth Southgate going to learn that his defenders/midfielders are not good enough at "playing it out from the back". He is delusional. He said Ross Barkley was "outstanding".
They think that because they got to the World Cup semi-finals they are a great team but in reality they hadn't played anyone decent until Croatia, then crumbled under the pressure.
An average Holland team looked comfortable last night.
I think that perhaps Gareth Southgate should spend less time giving pep talks to England's Cricket and Rugby teams and get his own shower in order.
I wonder if he had a chat with Anthony Joshua last week?
Playing questioned over corruption, linked to the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar....
Why has it taken so long?
And more to the point, why are Qatar and Japan playing in the Copa America...?
And more to the point, why are Qatar and Japan playing in the Copa America...?
MONEY
New season.
Let's hope the top 3 and bottom 3 of the premier league remain unchanged.
Brilliant outcome 👍
Never rated Lampard 🙄
As a player he was very good but always behind Gerrard.
He got more plaudits for being a southerner.
Similar as a manager, just below average.
Better than that bucket man but not for the Premier League mayby yet
A bit harsh to run him down after one match. If Chelsea had won 4-0 everyone would be chastising Solsjaer.
But yes, didn’t Chelsea come 3rd and win the UEFA Cup, then get rid of their manager... they deserve everything they get....
Ps I think Lampard was way better then Gerrard...
Very interesting result in a big early fixture. 2-0 either way and the losing boss would have been under pressure
I always thought Gerrard was a better player (well, more influential on his team)
Lampard was on a hiding to nothing.
He's got two strikers that don't really cut it at the top level. Giroud did to be fair, but his lack of games in the last two years has probably not helped.
Souness said before the game that he didn't know where the goals were going to come from for Chelsea this year.
Add to that Kante, Willian, Rudiger, Loftus-Cheek unavailable to start and Hazard gone, whilst on paper it looks a tough test for United, it's probably the easiest Chelsea team to play in over a decade.
I think he has the right mentality and background to make a good manager.
I also thought Gerard was over rated. Putting Gerard and Lampard on a pedestal and giving them the central midfield spot over Scholes cost England.
Meanwhile, great opening win for Burnley. Much needed as we have a tough next few with Arsenal and Wolves away now, then Liverpool back at Turf at the end of August.
I'd settle for a couple of points out of those 3.
I'll get a chance to see Lampards team in person, just got tickets for Burnley v Chelsea in October. After years of being a miserable old bastard slagging off the Premier League I've started enjoying live football again.
We took in two Burnley matches last season, one at Celtic and England v Croatia. Got Newcastle v Man City pencilled in and Burnley v Man United
Well done pogba. With only a 75% conversion rate from 12 yards, is he really the star he is portrayed to be?
Wolves eh?
Man and boy!
Swans flying again.
They took a decent following to QPR, something like 1500 to London on a weeknight is very impressive.
We took 950 to Portsmouth the night before, which given our current level and situation is pretty good. We were down to 9 men and 3-1 down, and pulled it back to 3-3. A promising start to the season.
Looks like being another very interesting season in the Championship. Swansea have started well as have Leeds and Fulham. I noticed that in Fulham's 4-0 thrashing of Millwall last night they had 84.5% possession. I don't ever recall seeing a team have as much as that before but I imagine there probably has been somewhere.
Celtic beat Barca 2-1 With only 11%.
About 2012/13 Or 14
Liverpool cheating again... you’ll never stop big-club bias, even with technology.... the fact that it was a comical dive is bad enough when it’s just the ref getting conned, but to review it and still give it is an utter disgrace.
100% overturned if it had been Vardy down the other end.
What a shite sport football is nowadays...
Spurs conced 10 in 2 games.
Potch to man u?
Ha ha ha well done Steve Bruce and his Newcastle side.
Potch to man u just got a lot closer.
