Re: Tonight's football thread
if man city want to pay 28 million for milner take it, hes not worth that and we could get quite a few good players for that. but i wouldn't sell ashley young for that and i dont think liverpool could afford more and i dont think he would want to go to a worse team anyway

Re: Tonight's football thread
Good news. Emile Heskey's retired from international football. I think we can leave the debate as to whether he actually ever started playing and perhaps simply rejoice

27 attempts on target in 62 international matches according to the stats. By my reckoning thats about one shot on target every 3 and a half hours.

Opinion seems to be divided on whether to play big donkey forwards who couldn't score in a brothel, but who hold the ball up, track back, can play with back to goal, run channels, etc.
England seem keen on them. Italy, Brazil, Germany, Spain, France and Argentina seem not to favour them. It's hard to see who's right.
Will this provoke a discussion about which Brazilian, German, Italian, French, Spanish or Argentinian centre forwards had a worse scoring record than Heskey?

Probably not and even if it does it won't be a long discussion ;) If he was Brazilian he might have made a half-decent goalkeeper
Reason I can't stand Heskey is he scored a wonderful 'perfect' hat-trick against Derby for iirc Liverpool. Right, left and a rare headed goal :o:mad:

In 1998, France's world cup winning team famously had a non scoring striker in Stéphane Guivarc'h - No goals in 5 games during the tournament and only 1 from 14 games in total for France. Following his prolific World Cup Newcastle Utd snapped him up. He subsequently topped a poll of the 50 worst strikers ever to play in the Premier League.
Wonder if Chris Hughton has made the call for Heskey yet.

I am off to the City of Manchester Stadium tomorrow, not to watch City as they are in Salzburg, just a boring business presentation.

Don't spoil our fun TH. It's not like we can criticise what Man U have done on the pitch over the past 10 years.
And you're right, we should move on. Most of Man Utd's fans are now in the far east. ;)

If they're down one man but aren't picky I know where there is a pantomine ogre looking for a job. Going to Italy wouldn't be a problem as he likes to play away...

Re: Tonight's football thread
Great goal by Gareth Bale
yippee Crouch is off the pitch ! How can Crouch be so incompetent at heading. I mean how does someone that tall still succeed so often in heading the ball over the bar

He copies his team mates who are all shorter and therefore head the ball up. His head's already above the crossbar. That's a fact that is....
