We did the last 2/3 of the route from Crossthwaite today. The ground was frozen and road shoes would have been ok even over Whitbarrow. I actually found the written instructions useful along with the map in a couple of spots and I'm glad I did a bit of a recce. It's a surprisingly nice route apart from the Lyth road section. I'm looking forward to the day.
