    Help me save my marathon

    Help.

Its a week and a half until the marathon and I'm poorly.

Since Sunday ive been off colour, throwing up (and same at t'other end).
I seem to be over the worst of it now, (have just been out the house for an hours walk) and will be going back to work tomorrow and possibly running again on Friday if i feel up to it.

My big concern though is how might this affect my performance in the marathon and what should i do to help my recovery.
Obviously I am not going to be doing any training, just light running with strides as my tapering had already started anyway but I've lost nearly half a stone in weight and am concerned i wont be able to get my system back up to full strength in time.

Presuming (hoping) i feel fine by the weekend what should I do next week?
    rest more?
    Eat more?
    sleep more?

All advice welcome guys and gals - this marathon has been my overriding goal since before Xmas

Once you can keep stuff down, drink loads of water. You must be pretty dehydrated by all that.

You can't make up for the lost training, so take it easy until marathon day. Whatever training you do now won't have much effect on your marathon performance anyway, as long as you don't overdo it.

I had something similar before my last marathon, finally getting over it 3 days before marathon day and I ran a PB.

    Don't worry, you'll be fine.

Stick to what you already had planned for next week - like FitC said before the training you have already done should have prepared you for the event. I also agree that you should take in plenty of fluid to get the dehydration sorted out, maybe load up with a few chocolate bars in the days before giving you sugars for energy. Otherwise, provided you have recovered from the bug, you should be OK on the day! Good Luck and let us know how you got on!
