Yes I did, I had forgoten the name of that but that ridge going alongside bassenthwaite is brilliant and great makes great running just a few little ups on it after Carlside.really recommendable if weathers a bit poor.

I dont know if you've gone yet hursty but i would recommend you dont go high up.
Just got back from trying to do the Fairfield Horseshoe. Got about half way to fairfield (ish) and turned back.
Knee deep snow in places and pretty nasty snow being whipped off and hammering into you. The wind was mental, literally blew me over a few times.
Stay low and know when to pack it in, theres always another day.
But it was great fun.
Its very clear, the tops appear to be in cloud but its the snow being blown about like a mad man.
It is possible to get round but its not sensible really.
Every walker was turning round and so did we.
You pretty much cannot actually run because of how deep the snow is, and when you do try you either fall over or just knacker yourself out.
It took 1:45 minutes to do 4.44 miles. Ok we where purposly taking it very steady but that was abit of an understatement with the snow.
I'd advise them to re-think the route....maybe stay lower.
Its more of a fast walk than a run....but amazing decending.
Was actually really good fun even though ive never experienced anything like it before.
Came off Nab Scar in what felt like 30 seconds.

Cheers for all the replies, will take it all into consideration.
Heading up saturday, if its going to be really bad, might just sack it off and stay local.
Like you say, there is always another day, and I need to be extra careful at the min, with my basic training only a few weeks ago
I just wanted to get out and do a real tester, I feel I'm ready for the step up to a 20-30miler now, but we'll see !
