Cheers Al and all the best for your trip.
Earby Youth Hostel has been reprieved - I believe that it's now operated by Pendle Council but still affiliated to the YHA.

A couple of mates and me were invited to do this for the opening ceremony on Malham Lings back in 1965 - I've still got the Invite from Lord Strang somewhere.

As they didn't open it at either end, we did it N-S so that we'd get the best length of a walk. Some days were long, some quite short, but things were definitely a bit different in those days ...

Night 1 - Kirk Yetholme YH
Night 2 - Yearning Hall - ruin / barn in Cheviots
Night 3 - Once Brewed YH
Night 4 - Barn at Haltwhistle
Night 5 - Part-built house on slopes above Alston
Night 6 - Knock YH (Dufton didn't exist then)
    Night 7 - Langdon YH
Night 8 - Barn near Bowes
Night 9 - Grinton Lodge YH (Keld YH was shut)
Night 10 - Bradford Pothole Club Dump at Brackenbottom
Night 11 - finished at Malham

I still have some beautiful memories. Hope you enjoy it whichever way you go!!

Setting off on Friday. Hoping to do about 30 miles a day but really am going to play it by ear. Schedule I've worked out puts it over 10 days. Sorry , goy to go now and unpack my bag again .
