    The Joe Salt Multi-T 01.01.10

    Anyone done this race before or going to it?? I am planning on doing it.

    The Joe Salt New Years Day Multi-Terrain Awakener Race


    Friday 1st January 2010 11.15am

    from the Red Lion Inn, The Square, Whitworth, nr. Rochdale (A671 Burnley Road)

    Entry fee: £4 club runners, £6 unattached plus £1 extra on the day.

    Cheques payable to “Andems Runners JSR”.

    Start and Finish in Cowm Park Way – allow 5 minutes from pub

    Please park in Cowm Park Way South
    Prize list to cater for all categories/ prize to ALL finishers!/well-marshalled/first aid/scenic course/changing and showers at the Red Lion

    Not done the New Years day race but i guess its the same as the other Cowm reservoir races Andy organises.

    It starts with a flat stretch of road thens turns uphill towards the reservoir, then you do a lap of the reservoir on good tracks and on the second time round at the top end of the reservoir you turn off onto a track that climbs gently. When you reach the top of the climb you follow a flattish track then descend on a road to the finish.

    I have always done it in road shoes but when you climb the track it can be a bit muddy in places

    I do it every year, really enjoy it. Blows the cobwebs away

    Its the usual Cowm route, but the quarry section is sometimes omitted if the conditions are bad under foot.

    nice lungbuster to start the year with.....done a 22ml hilly road run today and will see if me legs still work in the morrow.
