Oh yes,
With the influx of EU players (vote Brexit ) into the premiership, Martin is left to pick his team from the Championship so even a second tier Italian team is way above what Martin has available. Great work-rate last night - they left it heart stoppingly late!
Time to throw west ham out of the league.
Trouble against
Bournemouth
Watford
Middlesbrough in the league games.
More trouble against
Chelsea in the cup
This is the same club who cheated and only got a fine for playing ineligible players to survive in this league.
Karen Brady you and your club have been fired.
Your a disgrace to football.
Well done Burnley
Have been in Italy the last 9 days or so, travelling to various football matches. Quite an experience, and puts the atmosphere in England to shame. All 4 matches were a cut above anything I've experienced in terms of atmosphere...
Hellas Verona vs Pro Vercelli, Serie B. - Hellas are top of the league and won at a canter, their fans were fantastic, and have a reputation for taking a lot of English influence, which was evident, as it was the most familiar in therms of atmosphere, albeit a lot better.
AC Milan vs Juventus at the San Siro. - the best atmosphere I've witnessed anywhere. Outside the ground didn't quite carry the tension of the Rome Derby, but the noise really was far and away above anything I've ever heard. Was in the Curva Sud (Milan ultras end) and it was a non stop wall of noise and hostility. Fantastic.
Atalanta vs Inter Milan. - Atalanta are from Bergamo, which is a beautiful city, and it's a really old school Italian type ground, a concrete bowl with no roof. Constant noise, smoke, whistling, very Italian atmosphere and really enjoyed it.
Bologna vs Fiorentina. - first I'd say that Bologna is probably the most beautiful city I've ever seen. The match had the most 'exotic' of the experiences over the week. Drums, megaphones, huge banners, in a really old style ground with a huge pit at the front to keep the fans off the pitch. Very enjoyable atmosphere with a beatific view over the stand opposite to the hills in the sunset. I think the atmosphere got a bit lost in such a big stadium, but it was still pretty incredible.
Stayed in Milan, near the Centrale Station, and quickly found a local Tabbachi Bar where got to know a few locals, and they really are crazy about their football. The biggest daily newspaper in Italy is a football paper.
Sorry England, but I have to say when it comes to football passion, Italy is the place to be...
Good win by city tonight
Just turned on the TV: Scotland in pink.
Why?
Don't get me wrong, I like pink.
But, why?
Surely the traditional dark blue contrasts sufficiently with white.
Is there some other reason?
"Get yourself together, Jones" - Ray Davies
trying to flog a few away kits.
You see Premiership/Champions league clubs, national rugby teams etc, changing kit to their 2nd/3rd strip when 1st/2nd would have contrasted sufficiently, purely in an attempt to flog more kits.
Hence Man City's horrendous purple/orange job against Barca when the sky blue home kit would probably have contrasted sufficiently
