    Loughrigg Silverhow Sun 24 Feb

Jon Broxap asked if I would put this on here:

The Loughrigg Silverhow Chase is on Sunday 24th February. The usual course and arrangements. Register at Ambleside Rugby Club in good time for the race start on the under Loughrigg road at 12 noon. Cost about £3.

For those that don't know, the course runs up to Loughrigg summit then steeply down to the top of the Red Bank Road. Then up to Silverhow summit and back the same way. The record is about 65 - 70 mins I think.

    Spread the word please
    See you there!

Whats happened to Jon publicising this race, i thought it was usually a well kept secret. The only time i remember it being widely advertised was in the Foot & Mouth year when it was run in November on the same day as the FRA do

Helm Hill Runners would like to give this race their full support.
It may help take some of the pressure off parking at Cautley Spout.

Anyone going to Barbon for a proper fell race?

Is this a double bluff marketing strategy?

Its a LOCAL RUN for LOCAL PEOPLE (We'll have no trouble here!)

Its supposed to be a badly kept secret and with it being the same duration as Black Combe, a perfect warm-up for the season's opening champs race. So keep away offcomers, we need to keep numbers down (to enhance my finishing position!).

Numbers will be low anyway , cos you cant enter on-line!! so the geeks will be missing.

I am planning on doing this tomorrow. I have not done it before but I have read the thread and seen the map on the Kendall website including the 3 main routes to Lily Tarn ? so I am reasonably prepared

Anybody know of a close pub to the race venue that have ESPN for the Man City - Leeds match tomorrow? Be too much to expect they are showing it at the Rugby Club I presume?

Attachment 6787Loughrigg summit, today at 5:30pm. Reccie'd the descent down to red bank off the summit. Those taking part in the Loughrigg-Silver How race tomorrow will be pleased to know the ground conditions are perfect.... Tonnes of loose, dead, wet bracken, one or two patches of decrepit snow and the path down is wetter and longer than a blue whale's skid mark. Can't wait!

Churchills in Ambleside's probably your best bet.
