Looks warm out there. I'm just setting off join Rob for the Emlin to Outer edge leg.
They finished chirpy and cheerful in 13:07(?). I did the last couple of trigs with them. Almost perfct conditions.
Yiannis
Well Done Rob & Mary!
Hope you found a suitable watering hole for a well-earned pint or two?
Trust you will now be extolling the virtues of the Dark Peak...
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run
Hi all - still alive this morning, although not sure about the legs
That was a great day out, perfect conditions with high cloud, cool breeze and the peat drier than we dared hope. Final tally 16 trigs (including Stanedge Pole ) and I think 3 plane wrecks. Old Glossop start & finish; a water drop at Yorkshire Bridge, and The Sportsman kindly looked after our food bags which we collected late a.m. before they opened.
Good to get IanDP's call as we were approaching Rod Moor, and to have his company from Emlin to Outer Edge - a real boost.
That path along upper Alport Dale is a delight - never been there before.
Ambushed by Yiannis in Hern Clough - a lovely surprise, totally unexpected. He led us off Higher Shelf Stones on the race route - fast (the route, not us) and easy.
Chirpy at the end - yeah right but very happy to have completed a fine scenic route seeing it at its best.
Gone peakbagging
Well done there Rob - you had a great day for it too, hope it keeps up for the summer!
As Rob says we couldn't have wished for better conditions.
Just about in one piece.
It is a toughie, the extra weight of carrying provisions, the heather bashing and the slightly faster pace than something like a BG makes for different challenge.
Great to see Ian and Yannis. Realised Yannis had to be a fellow mad runner before I could make out who it was - who else would be off the main path on Beaklow at 16:40?
Thanks to Rob who did the lion's share of the route preparation beforehand.
Well done Mary & Rob - sounds like a grand day out. I dare say Sunday was a little cooler than Saturday, so a good choice there.
