Unhappy Knee pain after 15 miles

    Dear All.
Sorry if this type of question has been asked before but any info / advice would be kindly received.
Two years ago I went on my first ever ski trip. To cut a long story short I ended up hurting my knee very badly and was out of running for ½ year.
Now the knee seems to be ok until I try to run any thing much more than 15 miles . I get a really bad pain in the back of it which disappears when I stop running. It’s odd, last summer I did a 26 mile hike and the knee was totally fine.
Not sure if it’s a strength thing and I need to build my distance up slowly or if it’s an issue that will never go away.
Any one had anything similar? Is a visit to the Docs my only answer?

    Cheers again for any info.
    Tim

    long time no speak,
Hope you are well apart from the knee!
Does this mean that you will not be running Cloud 9 (<15miles) on sunday - local to you isnt it?
    I'm doing it.

    Hello
Are you getting into fell running these days?
I'll still be doing the cloud 9. The knee should hold out for that.

You could look at the whole barefoot/minimal footwear thing; shown to significantly reduce knee stress.

    I'm open to ideas.
Does this technique protect against broken beer bottles on footpaths?

Unfortunately not, however that problem has been addressed by the "Look where you're going" school of running
