    Second claim clubs

The wifes joining DPFR as second claim, and I'm thinking of following her. How does it work, when can you count as a DPFR for team events? As long as Eryri don't have a prescence there, i.e. no other eryri runners?

I wasn't sure that you could, as we'd run for both on the fell, but then thought them being separate countries it might be different?

Don't know about the Rules Iain but a finer club you could not have chosen

Check this thread, I think WP spells it out correctly.

    Clear I think

    Re: Second claim clubs

From reading that it seems joining them isn't an option? She's joining, or was, because she's running with a DP team in the HPM and I was going to join because I sometimes do some of the evening training runs with DP when visiting my parents. I always feel a bit guilty just turning up, using club facilities, getting a run and giving nothing to the club. I thought that was the point of a second claim, that you could run with 2 clubs?

There is no second claim in fell running.

The rules are unambiguous, you can only count in team competition for your first claim club. If you want to run for Dark Peak and count as part of their team, you must make Dark Peak your first claim club.

    Cheers.

I'd suggest changing that. Nowadays many of us live and work in different areas for considerable amounts of time. It's not that unusual. Personally speaking, I'm now meant to spend 25% of my time in Texas, but I bet there are many others who have a similar arrangement in the UK.

    Re: Second claim clubs

Can you join a second (fell) club if you don't compete for them? Obviously you can on the road, but the no-second-claim in fell has made me doubt that.

If you can, then isn't that all you need to do to be able to train guilt-free with them?

I often trained with Serpentine when I'm in London and held a second claim with them until recently (just so I didn't feel bad about using their faciltiies - I'll never count in team events anyway).

I wouldn't worry about that Iain, you have given to the club, you've helped out on Paddy for Dark peakers fir a start and I'm sure you will again.

    Re: Second claim clubs

You can join as many fell running clubs as you like, train with them, socialise with them etc etc.

It's only counting for club team competition where you are restricted to your first claim club, that's all.

    Re: Second claim clubs

ah OK, that's all really. I counting for them in team events is quite a minor thing really, because I'd want to count for Eryri - who would be lost without me...:-) It's more just knowing what the deal is really.

Ian: True, but I think I'd turn up more if I was second claim, a few times I've ummed and ahhed about turning up for the training runs, thinking I was being a bit cheeky.
