Yeah alright I read that but wanted to make sure. I don't want to show up and look like a lemon because no one else is there.
5 years ago, I wish I'd turned up for the race on the wrong date - I might not have ended up in Cumberland Infirmary that night!
Ooh, now youre scareing me. I've only been doing this fell running lark for about 18 months and this year I aim to do a mountain: Helvelyn being my chosen goal. How long can I be expecting to be on the ascent, bearing in mind that I'm a slow but persistent climber? Any info is useful.
As long as you treat the final descent with respect, you should be alright(my downfall was probably due to my poor downhill technique, and a "slice" of bad luck)
As for the climb, there is only one big climb, and that's right at the start. When I did the race, I remember looking at my watch when I got to the checkpoint at the top of the climb, and noticed I'd already been going for over 30 minutes. After that, there are only a few shortish climbs, but if you get a clear day, the views are fantastic, and it really is a great race, - a race that you're unlikely to forget.
Much obliged oleg, I am up at bassenthwaite this weekend and I hope to do a little training on Skiddaw, early sun morning.
I will practise my ascent for long spells of 40mins or more.
thanks
Has anybody got a map of the race that i can see please
If you can you should
Considering running on Sunday - I'll be there anyway.
Am I mad?
I hadn't realised it was this Sunday. Maybe time to reacquaint myself with that descent. Has to be more fun than the Chorley Bloody 10.
