Hi stagger, only thing I would add to that is for the descent. Leave the path at a knackered old wooden fodder rack at approx 148065 (the path takes you to the left) and head straight down on a slight left diagonal to cut the corner. The rest is straight forward as previously mentioned.
its a belting race, I spend many evenings running round that side of the valley but my knee won't have recovered for this year. You'll also get to show joss how fit you are as you run past his house.
I last did this in 2010 - its a belter of a race. I had never recced it but found it straight forward - but it was a super clear day. Really good atmosphere too. One word of warning though - make sure you beat easy life back or they be no grub left..!!

I have taken on the Race Organisation for the race this year, so the race is on. Please come along and support this great race.
Excellent news Hopey, it is a fab race and thanks for taking this on.
Hoping to come up for this, my first race in the Lakes so looking forward to it.
Cheers hopey for all the organisation and resurrecting the race. Thanks also to the gate marshalls and summit marshalls-they must have been a bit cold standing still up there. Great race and atmosphere. Next year can we ban anybody in a red vest-it does my self-esteem no good seeing real runners in action!
Some pictures from my gate post here if it's worked
