    Energy availability problem

Once a week i come home from work, eat tea, let it settle for half an hour then go out for a 15-20m bike ride. For the first 20mins i have virtually no energy, this is because of the diversion of blood to my tummy isn't it? Realistically i couldn't have tea after as i'm famished when i get in and don't want to start downing energy products either.

May as well mention i have very fast metabolism and find energy resources problematic during exercise.

Can you eat a little something eg banana before leaving work or on the way home? Or if work is close to home, eat something in the last tea-break before leaving? If the work setup is not favourable to eating, there must still be a way - in the loo? A few dates in a small polybag can go in a pocket - who's to know? I have a fast metabolism too, and rather than train on an empty stomach I would even eat just a few dates before setting off. But if you planned to eat something the moment you come in the door, that would surely leave an interval by the time you are changed and ready.

Get some toast down you when you get home or a couple of crumpets then have your tea when you get back from cycling

Yes, toast or crumpets - but with jam not butter because fat is much slower to digest.
