    Pain means stop

Have just seen Runner today in the clinic that has been running for the past two weeks with pain, If he had rested then taken action to get the injury treated he would be running now. The fact is that he has now a cronic injury that may take several weeks to recover

I can see your point, but ask every member of this form and I bet 90% of them would say they have atleast one case of 'pain'.

If I was to sit around every other run because such a thing hurts id only run a handful of times a year.

conditions such as plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, ilio-tibial band syndrome etc need to be rested/rehab'd

serious injuries such as muscle/tendon tears need rest/rehab also

minor injuries such as muscle/tendon strains can be "run through" - if I don't strain something on my serious training runs then I know I haven't been trying hard enough

obviously, the trick is knowing the difference between what will get better on a "two steps forward, one step back" basis
and what will just get worse...

How very timely: you must have just been watching me. I've just got back in from an aborted 7mi road run after my ITB 'niggle' came back 1.86mi* into it. Thought about carrying on, but decided it has been making itself felt too often recently, so limped back home instead. 3.68mi in 33.32 - rock on!

Strict two weeks off, with stretches and ITB massage every night. See you 'round

    *God bless the Garmin!

    Pain means MAN UP!

Thats meant as a joke. Although I d know many runners who are so hypersensitive to any niggle they are never training let alone racing.

I just got rid of lots of pain. Left some near Crowden and some on Bleaklow.

    Re: Pain means stop

Well I rubbed some Albmaleaf on my ankle when I got back. Then went out for another run when child number 1 asked "Dad shall we go for a run?" Ouch. Left a bit more pain on Lad's Leap race route.
