Very unseasonably mild weather for tonight's 8 mile RATRun from The Bulls Head, Monyash. Mainly over fields around Flagg, Sheldon and Monyash many of which had a liberal covering of cowshit/slurry.
However, back at The Bull our nostrils were cleansed with the smell of Cheesy Chips and Nachos washed down with Farmers Blonde and a very well kept Black Sheep.

11km/600m on a very wet and exceedingly muddy Walton Hill. Hard work in the wind and rain and felt harder than it should after a long hard week at work.

Monday 3.3 mile 30 mins on the Witton trails

    Tuesday 2 x 3 miles with 5 hours recovery.
Had to collect car from Mrs WP's work, so ran over the 3 miles exactly, back home and packed my orders, drive to Rossy to get my back upper right molar removed as it has been giving me jiff for some time.
Back home, felt OK so dropped car off for her and ran back.
26:53 there, 26:18 back, so quite happy with that.

Quicker on the way back as you were lighter without the Molar!

Possibly, but more likely that the outward leg gains around 100ft overall and the return descends 100ft. Although the morning was good weather and the return a brick wall wind for around 1/2 of it.

Anyway, today I've managed to post on the actual day, and I managed a steady 5.1 mile, 52 mins, 500ft so managing to maintain a slow increase in mileage for the last few weeks which I hope continues.

Tonight's RATRun was from The George Hotel, Youlgreave. An 8 mile and, 1,000 ft run over varied terrain on another very mild January evening. Back at the George, sausage roll and cheesy chips were washed down with a couple of pints of a very good Yorkshire Blonde from Ossett Brewery.

Yesterday's head-torcher was around the Clent lanes including the "delightful" climb of Winwood Heath Road.
Had to cut this short at 8km/250m as had severe cramp in my right calf. Pain still there this morning so obvs more than cramp but hoping to shake it off by Sunday as I have a trail race (and LMVs next week.)

I can certainly vouch for that - LMVs is about as tough as it comes. I was hoping to do the entire Shropshire winter series but unfortunately the calf has taken a turn for the worse after this morning's Stourbridge Stagger. We'll see what a week of ice and light stretching brings but would not be fancying the climb up Yearlet in the state it is now.
