Should really have been a recovery run after yesterday's race but much too nice for just a short un so 65mins/6.5 miles/1400ft on Danefield & Chevin - managed to get away form the crowds/dog walkers etc pretty easily.
That's how i do them too, i don't really like the other option of toiling very slowly for a long time up a 600' hill; but it's a case of what you want from the sessions. I use the grassy side of Fewston dam wall; i start by the outlet culvert at the base and run the 20m or so up to the first terrace at full speed, then do 10 good form squats and head back down followed by another set of 10 squats. I do them in 3 sets of 5 and i'm usually jelly-legged by around the 8th rep, it's surprising how quickly you start to feel really f****d and a bit sick.
