Club sessions closed down for the time being, so the first "virtual club session" carried out on a treadmill in the gym, following a session plan sent by our coach...

1 mile easy, then 10 x 1 minute on 1 minute off, then 2 miles easy.

To make it more specific i did the middle part of the session up maximum gradient. I don't really do enough of these real short efforts uphill, as there's not many climbs in fell races which take anywhere near as little as a minute! However it was a refreshing change for a session and i certainly felt the effort on the last few!

    5.5 miles 1450ft

first potter around Billinge Woods since my ankle turn there in early Jan. It's still not great for those with glass ankles but I do like it as a peaceful and pleasant place to run.

    5 miles, 725ft, 56 minutes

This weeks RATRun saw 6 of us enjoying a cool, dry and windless evening for a gentle 6 miles and 800 feet around Lathkill Dale from The Lathkil Hotel. Back at The Lathkil cheesy chips were washed down with BG Sips from The Blue Monkey Brewery and Hartington from Whim.

    Nice to be normal!

Managed 30 miles and 5500ft this week.

Given the turmoil of club shutting down, gym closing, races cancelling, and treadmill shopping, I'm reasonably satisfied with those numbers. Hopefully increase the mileage this week but without a treadmill or access to hills until next weekend, I think the ascent figures are going to take a hit!

Only did one run over the weekend. 2 laps of a caravan site early morning. 2.2 miles in 19:50 with 223ft of climb so not so shabby for me.
But across Saturday, Sunday and today I've walked 32 miles with Mrs WP.

Run around the beach today, more folk there but everyone keeping their distance, took to running on the road to pass people on the way back, don’t care if they think I’m a weirdo, things have got serious, hopefully if everyone does the right thing we’ll see the back of this sooner

Still resting my calf, so just a 3 mile run with my 13 yr old son on the High Peak trail this evening. He usually swims 5 times a week and having "retired" from running 18 months ago I persuaded him to come for an easy run with me. We ended up doing 8 minute mile pace which was a little quicker than my calf wanted.

At the end he said "Dad,I really enjoyed that".

    Result!

Mrs WP doesn't look like she'll be back at work any time soon. So my plans are now aligned to making the most of what we have.
3 hours, long walk out in the countryside from home and very quiet until we reached the last mile on the canal.
If we can get some long walks in, I might get her back running soon. She's fit enough but lost confidence following a fall and a few niggles.
    9 mile, 1100ft, 3 hours.

Club session tonight... sent out to us to complete alone.

    5mins hard, 1 min easy, 4, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 1,

Best i've felt since racing at Aran. Not the most taxing session in the world, but glad to work up a sweat on a lovely evening.

6 miles, of which almost 2.5 were decent effort.

Picking up a decent spec treadmill on thursday morning, and working from home for a couple of weeks absolute minimum (likely more), so double sessions all the way!
