Travs, just watch out for fascitis starting up in your hip muscles. Prolonged tightness in one or two can send the others into spasm which then irritates the fascia that separates them all. It's very tricky to diagnose as it presents as being similar to groin strains and hernias. It's a nightmare to get rid of and in my case it left me with permanent tissue scarring.

The trigger was too much tightness over too long a period, and not enough rest and healing.

Did a nice controlled 6.5 mile progressive run this morning, pushing the pace fairly high towards the end.

    All went well.

Obviously there's a difference between a controlled session and a flat out 20 minute race (not to mention a 13 minute downhill race the next day), but i should be able to go into them knowing i can go at 100%

Two runs either side of a long and hectic xmas day, totalling 9.5 miles.

77 miles for the week. Brings yearly average to 69.08.... 65 miles next week will see me secure a 69mpw average across the year.

Next week, well no time to rest as two races in the next 48hrs.

Like to think i can get a pb tomorrow without emptying myself for the Jubilee Plunge on tuesday (where i'll need both a pb and to be very fortunate with the opposition if i'm to get the win that eluded me by about 20 seconds last year).

Moel Famau very wet underfoot this morning. Shame that I’m always either working or visiting relatives for the Jubilee Plunge given I live about 2.3km from the top of Moel Famau (even if I’m on the ‘wrong side’ of the hill for the race 🤣) - maybe next year!

Club night, or should i say day...

11am session for us today, so i went down to the track early to see if anything was going on, and great to see endurance and sprint groups putting the effort in at this time of year.

As to my own group, we had a hill session, i elected to just warm up, do some drills, a couple of steady miles, and warm down again... suffering after two races in 24hrs.

7 miles in total. And off to see the mighty CCFC tonight so won't be getting any more miles in this evening.

Now have a bit of a break to recover for next planned session next tuesday, and also over a fortnight until the next race. So hopefully make the most of this period to recover fully and then get some quality training in.

I hadn't run on Darwen Moor since the Tockholes fell Race in July, so took the chance this morning to head up to the Royal and have a trudge through Roddlesworth and up Cartridge Hill.
Lots of water, slow, but good fun for the 3.5 miles, 620ft and 46 minutes.

    Mike

    I'm impressed.

I cycled 3800 miles in 2020 but felt I was "always" out on my bike and it was more duty than pleasure so I cut back and this year only rode 2700 miles on my bike.

    But it'll do.

Well done Graham. At this stage in our lives we should only do the amount of exercise that we enjoy.
