Tabata interval training. Not sure how much good they'll do for fell running but they're seriously painful. First of the four 30 second intervals were flat and the 2nd four on a slight / medium hill. Felt physically sick after the 8th one.

Whole session including warm up and warm down completed in less than half an hour. Showered and sat down with a brew and a biscuit 45 minutes after leaving the house.

Excellent training for the lazy who don't like cold weather !

    Almost a 'lively' one..

Quinnag in Assynt, Sarah's first hill run following her de-gloving of the heal, started nicely, got into the snow and it was hard going, just shy of 808m summit, at 806m we started 'buzzing' so we quickly about turned and got off pretty concerned we were about to get a lightning strike. We then descended some pretty dodgy avalanch terrain, quite a big of debris from a previou sslide in the last day or so, but the need to get to lower ground outweighed the avalanche risk..made it a fun run...6.5 miles 2000ft ascent.

5k run with 275m ascent to let my body know what I want it to do on sunday.
I am so unfit, the ups were tough and downs were steady at best.
Better bring a calander to record my race duration

    Re: Today's Training

Daily short runs this week, 2 or 3km each morning at a medium pace with a few sprints and dog breaks. First attempt at fitting running, work, looking after the dog and seeing the new baby into my day and so far so good.

Not sure how much good it'll do for my racing, but I think I'll start putting a set of uphill tabata intervals into 2 days next week..... (or probably only one, as it'll hurt both me and the dog too much!)

5k in 19 mins on the treadmill. Boring but necessary. Easy week for the Rombalds Recce on Saturday.
