Pain in the Eye!

Not sure if im putting this in the right "area" (mod's - please feel free to move!)..anyway...

Im sure im not the first to have this...

running along and sweat gets into your eye's...last year was my first year "back" running after a 18 year break :-) - so keep with me!

so i stopped washing my hair the day of any races...still sweat - but at least it didnt sting! I normally run with just a vest...so not ideal to wipe it off..

Ive tried running with a hat (it then gets tooooo hot) - tried one of them sweatbands (no difference!)..tried a wrist band...

Any tips out there for any workarounds?

can't quite make it out on your avatar but I cut my hair really short for summer.

Other than that I think you have tried every thing. unless

Run faster creating an airflow over the brow to dry the sweat!

Trust me - ive looked like a 70's Retro John McEnroe and its made no difference! The wristband helps - but on a sunny day - and ure sweating buckets its not ideal..

Will try the Vaz on Monday - see if it makes any difference ! thanks for the tips!

I find that old officer's eyebrows and running fast enough mean that the sweat goes into my ears rather than my eyes.

On a more serious note, that level of salty sweating makes me think:

Too much salt in the diet,or
Too much water intake,or
Racing faster than training has accustomed you to.

Hmm....interesting theory..

a) Im as carefull as i can with diet - so can safely take this one off
b) does this include beer :-) - again maybe a possibility - bad habbit or pre-race ritual of drinking lucozasde sport :-)
c) again good theory - ive been back running competitively since last Jan (sometimes think Im still 18...) after a 18 year "rest"...so could be a possibility - but my results are constantly (in top 3rd or higher of most races ive entered...and slowly creeping higher)..

I'll try the Vaz theory in Corndon tomorrow :-)

Seriously though a Buff worn as a headband would provide a pretty significant dam against the deluge.

just an update :-)

i was gonna test the theory in the Corndon race yesterday - but due to me being late i was lucky to even run the race...let alone get the Vaz on!

i suppose i should try this on a training run rather than a race anyway!

might invest in a buff aswell!! :-)
