    Calf stretches

Can anyone recommend some good calf stretches?

I got cramp running in on the Anniversary Waltz on Saturday and my calf is really tight and I don't seem to be able to stretch it out.

    Thanks

    Hopey,

if you google this I'm sure you will find something, but dont forget to isolate the 2 muscle which make up the calf complex (a.k.a. tricep surae), namely soleus and gastrocnemius. A little to complex to try and explain but I'm sure you can find pictures.

Hopey, just tried it, loads....such as
    http://www.nismat.org/traintip/runner/stretch.html

You could also try looking at Denise Parks article regarding achilies tendonitis/osis in the last but one issue of fellrunner.

    Good luck

I've done plenty of searching and I can just find the usual stretches, but you have lost me isolating the 2 muscles?

Cheers I'll try that and I'll have a look for the fell runner, what was on the cover? Might help me find it quicker

can't remember what was on the cover but not last issue, but the one before that........ no clearer I suppose, good luck.

Just remember during the stretch if your knee is bent, you are probably stretching the soleus, and if it is straight, you are probably stretching your gastrocnemius.
    Clear as mud......good.
