    STAN BRADSHAW - sad news.

I’ve heard today, from a fellow Rucksack Club member of the death yesterday of Stan Bradshaw (Clayton-le-Moors & Rucksack Club) aged 97. As I’m sure many of you will know Stan was one of, if not the finest exponent of Long Distance Fell Running the UK has witnessed. Also a truly smashing, kind & generous man – who most certainly inspired many of us along the way in our journeys across & into the heart of the fells. His genuine smile really said it all……I'm sure that those of us lucky enough to have spent time with Stan on or off the fells will smile deeply in recollection of those special shared moments.

He was at the Three Peaks two years ago, making our 80 odd years old club president, George Kirby feel very spritely.

    He'll be missed by many.

    Very sad news about Stan.

One of the real giants and gentlemen of our sport, and an inspiration to many.

Like Daz, I never met him but I have always been aware of his towering presence over our sport. Much respect to him and to his family. 97 is a great age. I hope he enjoyed every minute of it.

I saw him at the Three Peaks a few year ago. Seemed like a really nice guy.

A tribute in the next Fellrunner mag please.

Andy, sad news indeed. Sat next to him a few years ago at a RC dinner - Centenary year maybe? and he was very entertaining and a lovely gentleman. Very modest too.

Stan was one of my all time heroes too, a great and inspirational guy who proved it's possible to walk, climb and run well into later years.
I'm told his funeral will take place at Burnley Crematorium on Thursday, 15th April at 1.40pm. Rest in Peace Stan.
